    • PURPOSE: To reduce pickling time by heating a steel sheet at the entrance side of a pickling tank, controlling the immersion time of the steel sheet by means of a sink roll in the pickling part, and discharging the acid liquid, scales and insoluble matters from the bottom of the tank. CONSTITUTION: A steel sheet 1 is passed through a bridle roll 12, heated by a heating device 13, with the temp. controlled at 100-300 deg.C by a thermometer 15, and pickled in a pickling tank 16 by way of a buckling preventing roll 22. The supporting angle of the steel sheet 1 is set at 30-60 deg. against the level of the liquid into which the steel sheet 1 is immersed. The immersion time is controlled by the sink roll 1M. A hydrochloric acid solution with 4-8weight% is fed to the pickling tank 16 at the rate of 60-150kg per ton of steel sheets. The acid liquid is drained from the bottom of the tank 16 into a circulation tank 21. The concentration and the temp. of the acid liquid are adjusted in the circulation tank 21 with exhaust heat recovered by a heat exchanger 19 simultaneously. The steel sheet 1 is rinsed in a rinsing tank 20 and then sent to a succeeding process. Being heated and immersed in the tank 16, the steel sheet 1 is rendered to a nuclear boiling state, which causes minute cracks in the scales and enhances pickling effect.

    • PURPOSE:To provide a hot dip metal coating device capable of effectively preventing winding of the bottom dross in a plating bath which is of a problem when a band-shaped metallic member is subjected to hot dip metal coating. CONSTITUTION:A plating bath tank 3 housing molten metal and a sink roll 10 disposed in this plating bath tank 3 are used as main constituting members. Recessed parts 16 concentrical with the end faces of this sink roll 10 are formed at the end faces of the roll. The depth of these recessed parts 16 satisfies a relation 2L/D>=0.2 when L is defined as the depth of the recessed parts from the end faces of the roll and D as the diameter of the roll. As a result, the bottom dross is controlled to a direction parting from the sink roll by the swirling flow from the recessed parts 16 of the end face of the sink roll generated by rotation of the sink roll 10 when the band-shaped metallic member 1 is subjected to hot clip metal coating.

    • PURPOSE:To drastically shorten the time for a pickling treatment and to decrease the number of pickling tanks by installing an induction heater to the fore stage of the pickling tank and heating the steel sheet to be charged into the pickling tank to a temp. range above the b.p. of an acid liquid, thereby subjecting the steel sheet to a descaling treatment. CONSTITUTION:The hot rolled steel sheet 1 is introduced via bridle rolls 12 into the induction heater 13 where the steel sheet is heated to the prescribed temp. in a range of about 100 to 300 deg.C. The heated steel sheet is introduced into the pickling tank 16. At this time, the temp. of the steel sheet 1 is continuously detected without contact by a thermometer 15 and is inputted to an arithmetic section 30 which in turn controls the induction heater 13 via a control section 40, thereby maintaining the specified temp. of the steel sheet 1. A heat exchanger 19 is controlled by the arithmetic section 30 and the control section 40 in such a manner that the liquid temp. in the pickling tank 16 is maintained at 80 to 90 deg.C by this heat exchanger 19. The steel sheet 1 is immersed into the acid liquid and is pulled up by a sink roll 17 of a vertically moving type, by which the pickling is regulated. The hot water recovered in the heat exchanger 19 is introduced into the next rinsing tank 20. As a result, the steel sheet 1 well finished by the pickling is stably obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent nonuniform cooling and deformation of a steel sheet due to the nonuniform cooling in the roll with the periphery of its main body coated with a protective coating layer of metal oxide by specifying the relation between the thickness and surface roughness of the coating layer and the contact heat- transfer coefficient. CONSTITUTION:A protective coating layer 21 of metal oxide such as Al oxide is formed on the periphery of the main body 22 of a roll to constitute the water- cooled roll 20 for cooling a steel sheet. The thickness dt and surface roughness delta2 (mu) of the coating layer 21 are determined so that the contact heat-transfer coefficient K shown by the equation between the periphery of the roll 20 and the steel sheet is controlled to 800-2500 kcal/m . deg.C.h. In the equation, alpha=0.85, beta=5.5, delta1 is the surface roughness (mu), P is the contact pressure (kg/cm ), Hv is the hardness of the steel strip (kg/mm ), and lambda1, lambda2 and lambda3 are respectively the heat conductivities (kcal/m.h. deg.C) of the substances interposed between the steel strip, coating layer and contact surface.
