    • A cold rolling method of strip(1) is provided wherein the brushing roll (7), (8) are contacted to both the work rolls(5) and the back up rolls (6) of the temper mill, removing the foreign objects from the surface of the rolls of the mill and the duct(9) adjacent to the brushing rolls transport the foreign objects out of the mill system. The sucking speed of the duct is at least 5 m/sec., more preferably 8 m/sec. The length of the bristle is from 15 to 60mm, the diameter thereof being from 0.15mm to 1.0mm, and the material thereof being selected from a group of nylon, propyrene, and the mixture thereof. The density of the bristle with respect to the peripheral surface area of the brushing rolls for the work roll is from 55 to 85 % by area. Abrasive grains with the grain size of #300 to #1200 are incorporated in the brush of said brushing roll which enhance the brushing ability. The material of the abrasive grain is one or more selected from a group of alumina, titania, and silicate, and volume percentage of the grain with respect to volume of brush is from 5 to 30 % in volume.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve measurement accuracy and efficiency in operation by protruding the terminals of a measuring device main body at an interval of a reference length, installing a bend measuring device to the center part between the terminals of a measuring device main body, and bringing the tips of both terminals into contact with the edge of a steel sheet whose lateral bend is to be measured. SOLUTION: A measuring device main body 11 is constituted of a square bar formed of a hardly deformable light alloy, and a dial gauge as measuring instrument 13 is installed in the center of the measuring device main body 11. Terminals 12 with a length of approximately 15 mm are protruded at the locations of a reference length, and guide plates 16 for bringing the terminals 12 into contact with the edge of a steel sheet are installed on the measuring device main body 11. First, a handle 14 is held by a hand to bring the terminals 12 at both ends of the measuring device main body 11 into contact with a ruler having no bend to verify the zero point of the measuring instrument 13. Next, the steel sheet is placed still on an inspection base or a surface plate without tension, and the terminals 12 at both ends of the measuring device main body 11 are bought into contact with the edge part of the steel sheet via the guide plates 16. Then the dial gauge of the measuring instrument 13 is operated to measure the amount of a lateral bend.
