    • PURPOSE: To reduce the size by providing at least a coaxial pin contact so that several pieces of metallic thin plates are cut and raised to retain a coaxial pin. CONSTITUTION: When a number of coaxial. pin contacts 17 and ground pin contacts 18 are densely formed of a piece of metallic plate, the length of a lifted cut portion may be shortened so that elasticity required to retain each pin with sufficient strength cannot be ensured. Therefore, the coaxial pin contact 17 necessary to lengthen at least the cut-and-raised portion is formed by cutting and raising several pieces of metallic thin plates 12a,..., 12c. Consequently, even when each contact 17 is densely formed, each of the cut-and-raised portion can be secured to fully lengthen, and thereby the contact 17 can be provided to exhibit sufficient elasticity to retain each pin. Moreover, an outer periphery of a coaxial pin is electrically connected to a ground pin along the shortest path, so that a high-speed signal connector can be obtained to have a small size and high density.

    • PURPOSE: To arrange many contacts at a high density by inserting many contacts wound with metal thin sheets into nearly cylindrical shapes into holes of a metal plate, forming coaxial pin holding pieces in the tubes of the contacts, and forming ground pin holding pieces on the outside of the tubes. CONSTITUTION: Each contact 20 is wound into a nearly cylindrical shape, and it is inserted into the hole 22a provided on a metal plate 22. A coaxial pin 3 is inserted into the tube of the contact 20, and it is elastically held by a coaxial pin holding piece 20c. A ground pin 8 is inserted into ground pin holding pieces 20d provided on the outside of the tube of the contact 20, and it is pinched and elastically held by two holding pieces 20d. The outer periphery of the axial pin 3 and the ground pin 8 are connected at a short distance via the coaxial pin holding pin 20c, tube, and ground pin holding pieces 20d, and many contacts can be compactly arranged at a high density.

    • PURPOSE: To securely transmit high speed signals having an exact waveform by providing a projecting part between each coaxial pin contact and a ground pin contact adjacent thereto so that a coaxial and ground pin retaining metallic thin plate are arranged adjacent to each other to project either one toward the other. CONSTITUTION: A coaxial pin contact 17 and a ground pin contact 18 are alternately arranged in close proximity to each other, and an outer periphery of a coaxial pin is electrically connected to a ground pin along the shortest path. Also, in order to assure electrical contact between metallic thin plates, projecting parts 19a and 19b are provided between each coaxial pin contact 17 and each ground pin contact 18 corresponding thereto. The projecting parts 19a and 19b press a coaxial pin retaining metallic plate 12b and a ground pin retaining matallic plate 12c adjacent thereto, thereby assuring electrical contact in this portion, so that the outer periphery of the coaxial pin is electrically connected to the ground pin along the shortest path. This can securely transmit high-speed signals having an exact waveform.

    • A coaxial pin array connector comprises a top member (10) having guide holes (10a) corresponding to coaxial cables (18), and an intermediate, conductive member (11) having throughholes (11a) respectively corresponding to and aligned with the guide holes (10a). A bottom, insulative member (12) is provided having first throughholes for admitting signal pins (15S) of a circuit board, second throughholes for admitting grounding pins (15G) of the circuit board, and recesses for receiving power pins (15P) of the circuit board. Conductive cylindrical hollow structures (14) are respectively positioned in the throughholes (11a) of the intermediate member and extend between the top (10) and bottom (12) members to allow the coaxial cable pins (17) to be admitted from the guide holes (10a) to the bottom member (12) and make electrical contact with the signal pins (15). Each of the hollow structures (14) has inwardly bent contacts (14c) for making pressure contact with the pin of a corresponding coaxial cable (17) and an outwardly bent contact forming a pair of contacts (14d) with the outwardly bent contact of an adjacent hollow structure so that one of the grounding pins (15G) engages between the paired contacts (14d) when inserted through one of the second throughholes of the bottom member (12).

    • The connector comprises a plurality of coaxial pins (3) each having an inner conductor, an outer conducter and an insulator providing electrical insulation between the inner conductor and the outer conductor; a housing (5) having a first surface and a plurality of first bores (9) extending from the first surface for receiving the coaxial pins (3); a flat member made of a good electrically conductive material and disposed in the housing (5) to face the first bores (9); first arms (13) formed by cutting and raising those portions of the flat member which are associated ono-to-one with the first bores (9), the first arms (13) being electrically connected to the outer conductors of the coaxial pins (3); a plurality of second bores (10) extending toward the flact member from the second surface of the housing (5) which is opposite to the first surface and receiving ground pins (8); second arms formed by cutting and raising those portions of the flat member which are associated one-to-one with the second bores (10), the second arms being electrically connected to the ground pins (8). This connector allows an accurate transmission of signals in a broad frequency range.
