    • PURPOSE:To harden forgings without quenching cracks and ununiform cooling in the stage of hardening the forgings by cooling the forgings with the cooling water which is injected diagonally upward and diagonally downward while lowering the forgings in a cylindrical body then cooling for forgings with the water injected from below while transferring the same in a water tank by means of a chain conveyor. CONSTITUTION:The square cylindrical body 12 is installed into the water tank 10 of a hardening device 18 for the forgings and while the forgings to be hardened are dropped from above to below therein, the cooling water is injected from many diagonal upward injection nozzles 14 and diagonal downward injection nozzles 30 to uniformly cool and harden the surfaces of the forgings. The cooling water becomes water 46 of which the temp. is increased by cooling the forgings. Such water overflows from a slit 24 into a the water tank. The forgings falling onto the chain conveyor 20 provided in the bottom of the water tank 10 are further cooled by the upward ejection nozzles 42 and are steadily cooled before the forgings emerge from the water tank. The forgings are thus thoroughly hardened without the generation of quenching cracks, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To produce hardened forgings having high quality without quenching cracks by injecting cooling water of a specific liquid temp. in which a specific water soluble org. hardening agent is dissolved to the forgings in the stage of hardening the forgings. CONSTITUTION:While the forgings such as mechanical parts and automobile parts are dropped in a square cylindrical body 12 in a water tank 10 of a hardening device 18, the cooling water is injected from many diagonal upward injection nozzles 14 and diagonal downward injection nozzles 30 to uniformly cool and harden the surfaces of the forgings in the stage of hardening the above- mentioned forgings. The forgings are further dropped onto a chain conveyor 20 provided in the bottom of the water tank and are cooled with upward cooling water injection nozzles 42 in the mid-way of ejecting the same to the outside of the water tank. The cooling water for hardening of 40-60 deg.C temp. prepd. by dissolving the water soluble org. hardening agent such as polyalkylene glycol or PVA at 15-20% concn. in the water is used as the cooling water for hardening to be used in this case. Quality deterioration such as quenching cracks, ununiform hardening is thus prevented.
