CONSTITUTION:A high molecular org. compound selected among poly-p-phenylene oxide, poly-p-phenylene sulfide, poly-p-xylene, polysulfone, polycarbonate, polyethylene terephthalate and derivs. of them each having an alkyl substituent in the aromatic ring is heated in vacuum or an atmosphere of a gas such as Ar, He, N2 or H2. A gasified component generated by the heating is deposited on a substrate heated to >=700 deg.C.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain carbonaceous fiber from a solid starting raw material, by molding an organic compound which is solid at normal temperature at normal pressure and is decomposed under heating, heating the molded article in an atmosphere of an inert gas, etc. in such a way that temperature difference is produced in the molded article, subjecting a decomposed product to gaseous- phase growth on the molded article.
      CONSTITUTION: An organic compound (e.g., pyromellitic dianhydride, etc.) which is solid at normal temperature at normal pressure and is decomposed or partially decomposed under heating is molded into a film, etc., to give a molded article. Then, the molded article 2 is placed on the ceramic substrate 3, etc., put in the furnace 4.     • PURPOSE: A support base is coated with a specific aromatic polymer compound, and carbon coating film is deposited on the support by decomposing the coating with heat under vacuum where by uniform carbon coating films with high electroconductivity and high hardness is formed at a relative temperature.
      CONSTITUTION: An aromatic high polymer which has large amounts of components to be gasified on pyrolysis such as polyparaphenylene oxide, polyparaphenylene sulfide, polycarbonate or phenolic resin is used to coat the support base such as a plate of carbon, silicon, alumina, silicon carbide or boron nitride in the form of a solution and dried. A film of the high polymer may be held between the support bases. Then, the coated bases are heated in an inert atmosphere or under vacuum over 700°C to deposit the carbon formed on the base.
