    • Disclosed is a process for preparing 3-phenoxybenzyl 2-(4-alkoxyphenyl)-2-methylpropyl ethers represented by the following formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R stands for a lower alkyl group, and X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 stand for a hydrogen atom or fluorine atom,which comprises subjecting a 3-phenoxybenzyl 2-(4-alkoxy-3-halogenophenyl)-2-methylpropyl ether or 3-phenoxybenzyl-2-(4-alkoxy-3,5-dihalogenophenyl)-2-methylpropyl ether represented by the following formula (II): ##STR2## wherein R stands for a lower alkyl group, X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 stand for a hydrogen atom or fluorine atom, and Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 stand for a hydrogen atom, chlorine atom, bromine atom or iodine atom, with the proviso that at least one of Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 is a chlorine atom, bromine atom or iodine atom,to dechlorination, debromination or deiodination by hydrogenation, wherein the dechlorination, debromination or deiodination is carried out in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst by using as a hydrogenative reducing agent a lower aliphatic alcohol and an alkali compound selected from the group comprising alkali metal hydroxides and alkaline earth metal hydroxides.According to this process, compounds of the formula (I) can be obtained in high yields with safety without using hydrogen.

    • A blood test device by which the amount of plumped skin at a puncture site for conducting a blood test or collecting the blood can be controlled at a constant amount so that a blood component can be accurately measured. Namely, a blood test device comprising: a housing; an inner tube provided in one side of the housing; a reciprocating unit which reciprocates within the inner tube; a blood collection needle connected to the reciprocating unit; a blood sensor facing to the blood collection needle and being located at the tip of the inner tube; a measurement circuit to which a signal is fed from the blood sensor; and a negative pressure unit driven by the measurement circuit; which further has an outer tube that is a tube covering the inner tube, having an opening in the tip side of the inner tube, being capable of relatively moving to the inner tube, and being provided so as to return to a definite relative position. The negative pressure unit as described above can apply a negative pressure to the inside of the outer tube.

    • A measurement apparatus for ulcerative colitis diagnosis and prognostic test according to the present invention comprises a solution mixing unit (15) for mixing an eluent and a quinone solution, the eluent being supplied from a system including a tank (9) in which the eluent used for acid separation is stored, a pump (12) for sending the eluent, a sample injection unit (13) for injecting a sample into the eluent, and an acid separation column (14) for separating short-chain fatty acids included in the sample that is injected from the sample injection unit (13), and the quinone solution being supplied from a system including a tank (8) in which the quinone solution containing quinone and supporting electrolyte is stored, and a pump (11) for sending the quinone solution; and an acid degree measurement unit (16) for measuring the acid degrees of the short-chain fatty acids separated from the sample. In the measurement apparatus for ulcerative colitis diagnosis and prognostic test which is constructed as described above, it is possible to perform ulcerative colitis diagnosis speedily, easily, and accurately, without performing blood test.
