    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a construction method of a tunnel branch/confluent width expanding part, capable of shortening a construction period, capable of reducing construction cost, capable of excavating and carrying out the inside natural ground after constructing a structural skeleton, capable of rationalizing a structure by load reduction in a main track tunnel, capable of restraining influence on the peripheral ground, and capable of reducing the size in a required site width in response to the required inside of a branch/confluent part, by simplifying joining construction by reducing a connecting width between the main track tunnel and a ramp part tunnel.
      SOLUTION: This method includes a process of connecting a connecting part 40 between the main track tunnel 10 and a pair of U-shaped tunnels 22 to a connecting part 42 of the pair of mutual U-shaped tunnels after the pair of U-shaped tunnels 22 are approached to the main track tunnel 10 by a U-shaped shield machine 20 forming the ramp part tunnel 12, and a process of forming the branch/confluent width expanding part 18 by excavating the natural ground between the pair of U-shaped tunnels 22.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underground space width extending device capable of forming a width extending part having predetermined size in an underground space by a non-open-cut method easily and securely.
      SOLUTION: A cutter excavating part 28 advances straight onto a side of a shaft 14 together with a slide frame 26 to excavate the whole cross section of the width extending part 18 and can rotate for the slide frame 26 centered on a rotary shaft 42 over a central part at a straight advance end position to excavate semicircular cross section. A lining body 30 attached integrally with the cutter excavating part 28 by covering a rear surface side of the cutter excavating part 28 and rotating integrally with the cutter excavating part 28 when excavating the semicircular cross section by the cutter excavating part 28 to form lining is provided on the rear surface side of the cutter excavating part 28. A first bulkhead 46 forming a chamber when the cutter excavating part 28 advances straight for excavation is provided on a rear surface of the cutter excavating part 28, and a second bulkhead 32 forming a chamber in a rear end part in the direction of slide when excavating the semicircular cross section is provided in the slide frame 26.
