    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a widening device and a widening method for an existing tunnel which can reduce a cost through downsizing of the widening device and are excellent in versatility.SOLUTION: A widening device of an existing tunnel comprises: a device body 13 capable of moving forward, inside an entrance 11 of an existing tunnel 10, in a radial direction of the tunnel; a propulsion jack 14 arranged inside the existing tunnel to move the device body forward; cutter supporting cylinders 18A and 18B which are extensible and supported by a bulkhead 17 partitioning inside the device body, via sealing devices 19A and 19B in a manner that the cutter supporting cylinders 18A and 18B penetrates the bulkhead 17 to enable the cutter supporting cylinders to swing in a vertical direction as well as move in a horizontal direction; saddle members 20A and 20B which pivotally support the cutter supporting cylinders to allow the same to swing in the vertical direction and are supported by the device body so as to be movable in the horizontal direction; a swing jack 25 to swing the cutter supporting cylinders; slide jacks 26a and 26b to move the saddle members; drum cutters 27A and 27B attached to tip sections of the cutter supporting cylinders; and a discharge conveyer 35 to take in excavated soil in front of the bulkhead inside the device body.
