    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire rope flaw detector capable of detecting a flaw of a wire rope at a high S/N ratio and detecting the flaw even in a state where the wire rope is stopped.SOLUTION: A wire rope flaw detector includes: a pair of permanent magnets 2a and 2b applying a bias magnetic field in the longitudinal direction of a wire rope 1 to magnetize the wire rope 1; and a detection coil 6 disposed between the pair of permanent magnets 2a and 2b to enclose the magnetized wire rope 1, detecting magnetic leakage flux from the magnetized wire rope 1 and outputting a voltage corresponding to the magnetic leakage flux; and detects the flaw of the wire rope 1. The wire rope flaw detector further includes: an exciting coil 4 connected with an AC power supply 5, and applying an alternate magnetic field in the longitudinal direction of the wire rope 1 that is superimposed on the bias magnetic field and magnetized; and a detector circuit 20 for extracting an amplitude of frequency component which is equal to the frequency of a voltage signal of the AC power supply 5, from components of the output signal of the detection coil 6.
