    • A vacuum brake booster assembly comprising front and rear housing shells connected to form a single piece their output peripheral edges and mounted within the passenger compartment of a vehicle, a piston body axially movable in the housing shells, a diaphragm member hermetically secured at its inner peripheral edge to the piston body and clamped at its outer peripheral edge by the outer peripheral edges of the housing shells to subdivide the interior of the housing shells into a vacuum chamber and a variable pressure chamber, and a pressure control valve cooperable with the piston body for selectively communicating the variable pressure chamber to the vacuum chamber or the atmospheric air in response to movements of the piston body, wherein at least the rear housing shell is formed as a double or multi layer wall for the variable pressure chamber to dampen air suction noises caused by expansion and vibration of the air flowing through the valve into the variable pressure chamber from the passenger compartment in response to actuation of the brake booster assembly.

    • In a data transmission apparatus, a data coding section codes input data and outputs the coded data. A error correction execution determining section determines execution/non-execution of error-correcting coding on the basis of a congestion state and a bit error generation state in a network, and generates determination information. A frame formation section multiplexes the determination information with the coded data in units of frames, and generates frame data having a predetermined frame format. A error-correcting coding section executes error-correcting coding for the coded data in units of frames in accordance with the determination information contained in the frame data, and generates frame length information representing a frame length of a frame for which error-correcting coding is executed. When the determination information contained in the frame data represents non-execution of error-correcting coding, a variable delay circuit delays the frame data of the frame, for which error-correcting coding is not executed, by a frame length indicated by frame length information of an immediately preceding frame for which error-correcting coding is to be executed. A selector outputs data from the data coding section and the variable delay circuit in a time-serial manner.

    • For cell multiplexing an original video signal and an original audio signal which are encoded into an encoded video signal and an encoded audio signal, a buffer unit buffers the encoded video signal for read out by a control unit as video data of a common data length. The video data and the encoded audio signal are supplied to processors for inserting additional information, such as a header, therein for production of video and audio cells, which are multiplexed by a cell multiplexer into a cell multiplexed video and audio signal. Preferably, the buffer unit comprises a video buffer for buffering the encoded video signal for read out as read video data, a delay detector for detecting a delay needed to produce the read out data, and a delay information multiplexer for multiplexing, on each read out datum for production of the read out data, delay information indicative of the delay. The cell multiplexer uses with a higher priority degree each audio cell concurrently supplied thereto with one of the video cells and uses at least one empty cell while none of the video and the audio cells are supplied thereto. For reproduction of the original video and audio signals, a data demultiplexer device is adapted to the cell multiplexed video and audio signal in which the delay information is multiplexed on each video cell.

    • A transmitter selectively encodes or does not encode a data frame to be transmitted with an error correcting code depending on the congestion and occurrence of bit errors of a transmission path, and transmits the data frame with decision information indicative of whether the data frame has been encoded with the error correcting code or not for preventing either bit error or cell loss not. A receiver determines whether the received data frame has been encoded with the error correcting code or not based on the decision information sent with the data frame. The receiver decodes the data frame which has been encoded with the error correcting code, and outputs a decoded frame length, or delays the data frame which has not been encoded with the error correcting code for a delay time corresponding to the length of a preceding data frame and adds the data frame in a time series sequentially. The receiver then decodes the data frame into original data.
