    • A method of balancing a first turbomachine module (20), comprising along an axis of rotation a bearing plane (22) on one side and a junction plane (24) on the other, with respect to a rotor (1) comprising said module (20), in whichan equivalent complementary module is defined such that the two modules form a rotor equivalent to said rotor by assembling along the junction plane (24), the total unbalance of said equivalent rotor and the corresponding correction to be made to said module are determined, which method comprises the following steps: the concentricity deviation of the bearing (22) of the first module (20) with respect to the axis perpendicular to the junction plane (24) is determined; the theoretical geometric unbalance of said equivalent complementary module is calculated; a short journal (40) is mounted on the first module adjacent to the junction plane (24) to form a short rotor whose axis of rotation is substantially coincident with the axis of the module (20) and the unbalance of the short rotor is measured; and the total unbalance of said module is determined by adding to the unbalance of the short rotor a systematic unbalance corresponding to the geometric unbalance.

    • Systems and methods in accordance with the present invention provide for an implementation of the XQuery standard, and such an implementation will be referred to herein as an XQuery (XML Query language) implementation. An XQuery implementation can be based on a token stream representation, which allows large XML documents to be processed without having to first read the entire document. An XQuery implementation can also utilize a streaming XQuery engine. A set of algorithms and a set of rewrite rules can be used for the implementation. Given a query, a set of rules can be applied to that query to transform the query into another query. Some of these rules allow the resulting query to be streamable. In other words, a query that would otherwise require an XML document to be read into memory can now be transformed into a query that can work on an XML stream. The type system of the XQuery language can be based on XML Schema, and the basic types of XML Schema can have derived types. The XQuery programs can execute in a context comprising of variable bindings, namespaces, operators, default parameters, etc. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention.     • A pressure control system for controlling pressure of a fluid in a chamber includes a pressure sensor configured to measure the pressure of the fluid in the chamber, and a valve configured to control the pressure of the fluid in the chamber by regulating flow of the fluid from the chamber. The pressure control system further includes a controller. The controller is configured to estimate the volume of the chamber, and to generate a pump speed curve of the valve. The controller is further configured to monitor and modify the pump speed curve so as to maintain a slope of the pump speed curve to at least a minimum value, and to use the modified pump speed curve to adjust the position of the valve in response to pressure measurements by the pressure sensor, so as to maintain the pressure in the chamber at a desired pressure setpoint.
