    • The connector consists of a connector housing with a plurality of terminal accommodating chambers and a terminal locking member mounted to the rear portion of the connector housing. The terminal locking member is fitted to the connector housing in one of two engagement states--a preliminarily engaged state and a fully engaged state. The terminal locking member has resilient support pieces for fixing the terminal lugs in the terminal accommodating chambers. When the terminal locking member is moved backwardly from the preliminarily engaged state, the resilient support pieces ride on triangular engagement projections formed on the connector housing, moving outwardly out of the insertion path of the terminal lugs. This allows the terminal lug in question to be pulled out without disengaging the terminal locking member from the connector housing.

    • A connector housing has a lock arm for locking a terminal therein. The lock arm deflects in an complete insertion state of the terminal so that a spacer abuts against a side surface of the lock arm. The lock arm is formed with a projection which abuts the incompletely inserted terminal in the spacer advancing direction. The projection may be a plate piece elongated in the longitudinal direction of the lock to be pinched by a pair of a resilient contact plates of the terminal. Alternatively, the lock arm may have a protrusion engaging with an engagement hole formed in the connector housing. The protrusion is a rectangular plate extending from the fore end of the lock arm. An inclined guide surface continuous with the engagement hole may be provided in the connector housing. Alternatively, the connector housing may have an inner embossed wall positioned closely to the deflected lock arm to oppose to the spacer. A clearance between the embossed wall and the lock arm is determined within the elastic deflection limit of the lock arm.

    • The present invention relates to a connector for use in a wiring harness for motor vehicles, and more particularly to a method for shifting a terminal, which is in an incompletely inserted state in a terminal accommodating chamber of a connector housing, to a completely inserted position thereof by use of an inserted position correcting jig.As a general procedure of the above method, a front end portion of the inserted terminal position correcting jig is inserted into an opening formed in a peripheral wall provided extendedly from the rear portion of a connector housing, which opening functioning as its pivot center and having a correcting operation checking member therein, thereby to shift the jig toward the housing pivoting on the opening, and by this operation the jig is fitted with the rear end portion of the terminal which is still in an incompletely inserted state so as to shift the terminal to a completely inserted position and securely locked, wherein since the correcting operation checking member formed in the opening is removed when the front end portion of the jig is inserted, whether or not the correcting operation is perfectly done can be checked from outside by a removal or deformation of the correcting operation checking member.

Flexible support pieces for metal terminals are provided on a terminal retainer. A flexible retaining piece for the metal terminal is provided at each terminal receiving chamber. In the provisionally-connected condition of the terminal retainer, the flexible support piece is placed on a push-up projection of the connector housing to be held out of a path of movement of the metal terminal within the terminal receiving chamber. When the terminal retainer shifts to the completely-connected condition, a driven projection on the flexible support piece is engaged in a drive groove in the connector housing to forcibly drive the flexible support piece into engagement with the metal terminal.
