    • A connector housing and a manufacturing method thereof are provided, which connector housing includes: an outside wall having an upper and lower walls and sidewalls; horizontal partition and vertical partition which form terminal accommodating chambers 9 inside the outside wall; and a thin sidewall portion 6 formed on each of the sidewalls and being thinner than a remaining portion of the corresponding sidewall, wherein a short shot preventing rib 8 is longitudinally formed on the thin sidewall portion integrally therewith in a generally vertical center thereof. The short shot preventing rib 8 projects outside over the remaining portion 7 continuing from the thin sidewall portion 6. The short shot preventing rib 8 is arranged in a line with the horizontal partition 15. The short shot preventing rib 8 is formed thicker than the horizontal partition 15. And, the manufacturing method includes the steps of: setting a mold for molding a connector housing 1 which has a short shot preventing rib 8 on each of thin sidewall portions 6 formed on both side walls 5; arranging a gate of a runner 3 at a position corresponding to an outside wall of the connector housing; and injecting a melted resin material into the mold through the gate for forming the connector housing 1.

    • A connector housing has a lock arm for locking a terminal therein. The lock arm deflects in an complete insertion state of the terminal so that a spacer abuts against a side surface of the lock arm. The lock arm is formed with a projection which abuts the incompletely inserted terminal in the spacer advancing direction. The projection may be a plate piece elongated in the longitudinal direction of the lock to be pinched by a pair of a resilient contact plates of the terminal. Alternatively, the lock arm may have a protrusion engaging with an engagement hole formed in the connector housing. The protrusion is a rectangular plate extending from the fore end of the lock arm. An inclined guide surface continuous with the engagement hole may be provided in the connector housing. Alternatively, the connector housing may have an inner embossed wall positioned closely to the deflected lock arm to oppose to the spacer. A clearance between the embossed wall and the lock arm is determined within the elastic deflection limit of the lock arm.

    • The present invention relates to a connector for use in a wiring harness for motor vehicles, and more particularly to a method for shifting a terminal, which is in an incompletely inserted state in a terminal accommodating chamber of a connector housing, to a completely inserted position thereof by use of an inserted position correcting jig.As a general procedure of the above method, a front end portion of the inserted terminal position correcting jig is inserted into an opening formed in a peripheral wall provided extendedly from the rear portion of a connector housing, which opening functioning as its pivot center and having a correcting operation checking member therein, thereby to shift the jig toward the housing pivoting on the opening, and by this operation the jig is fitted with the rear end portion of the terminal which is still in an incompletely inserted state so as to shift the terminal to a completely inserted position and securely locked, wherein since the correcting operation checking member formed in the opening is removed when the front end portion of the jig is inserted, whether or not the correcting operation is perfectly done can be checked from outside by a removal or deformation of the correcting operation checking member.

The lock arm is engaged with the retaining projection, and also the flexible arms are engaged respectively with the second engagement projections, thereby preventing the two connectors from being accidentally disengaged from each other.
