    • A swing cam to actuate engine valves is rotatably disposed about a drive shaft. A first eccentric cam is tightly disposed on the drive shaft. A ring-link is rotatably disposed on the first eccentric cam. A second eccentric cam is tightly disposed on a control shaft which rotates to a given angular position in accordance with an operation condition of an associated internal combustion engine. A rocker arm is rotatably disposed on the second eccentric cam. A rod-link extends between the rocker arm and the swing cam. A first connecting pin pivotally connects a first arm portion of the rocker arm with the ring-link. A second connecting pin pivotally connects a second arm portion of the rocker arm with an end of the rod-link. A third connecting pin pivotally connects the other end of the rod-link with the swing cam. The first connecting pin is fixed to either one of the first arm portion of the rocker arm and the ring-link.

    • A VVA apparatus includes a driving shaft, a crank cam arranged at an outer periphery of the driving shaft, a VO cam swingably supported by the driving shaft to actuate an engine valve, and a rocker arm having a first arm swingably mounted to an eccentric control cam at a first pivotal point and a second arm rotatably mounted to the crank cam and the VO cam at a second pivotal point and a third pivotal point, respectively, the rocker arm transmitting a driving force of the crank cam to the VO cam. The valve lift produced by the VO cam is varied by changing a rocking fulcrum of the rocker arm through rotation control of the control cam, and the second pivotal point and the third pivotal point are located on the side of the second arm of the rocker arm.

    • A drive shaft is synchronously rotated with a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. A cylindrical hollow cam shaft is rotatably disposed about the drive shaft keeping a first cylindrical clearance therebetween. The cam shaft is formed with at least one cam that actuates an engine valve for opening and closing the same. A bearing bears a given portion of the cam shaft keeping a second cylindrical clearance therebetween. A movement transmitting mechanism transmits a torque of the drive shaft to the cam shaft while converting a rotation movement of the drive shaft to a swing movement of the cam shaft. The thickness of the first cylindrical clearance is smaller than that of the second cylindrical clearance.
