    • A temperature history indicator and its manufacturing method wherein the indicators are formed as chips, labels, tags or the like and accompanied with those goods or their packings which must be stored at a certain temperature or lower and when their storage temperature rises higher than the certain temperature over a not-permissible time period, this fact can be visibly shown by development or change of color caused by chemical matters in the indicator, characterized in that when temperature rises higher than a certain value, a hydrophobic organic compound enclosed in microcapsules melts and diffuses causing a dye-precursor and a color developer, which are prepared independently of the compound, to be contacted with each other to irreversibly achieve color development or change, that this color development or change system is rendered operative when the temperature rise continues to exceed a permissible time period, and that when the tops of the color development or change systems are coated with a transparent material, the arrangement of a bonding agent is improved neither to break those chemical compositions which cause the color development or change nor to lower their color developing function.

    • A dyestuff-containing microscopic capsule dispersion for record materials, which comprises at least one methine dyestuff represented by the general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X means a phenyl, naphthyl, indolyl, .beta.-styryl, pyridyl, pyrimidyl or pyrazinyl group which may optionally be substituted, R.sub.1 -R.sub.6 are individually an amino, substituted amino, lower alkyl, cycloalkyl, lower alkoxy or lower haloalkyl group or a halogen or hydrogen atom, R.sub.7 and R.sub.8 are each a hydrogen or halogen atom or a lower alkoxy group and may be coupled together to form a ring, and said methine dyestuff contains at least one substituted amino group at a position para to the central methine group in the molecule thereof, said methine dyestuff being contained in microscopic capsules; and alkanolamine represented by the general formula (II): ##STR2## wherein R denotes a lower alkylene, hydroxyalkylene or poly(oxyalkylene) group, R' and R" mean individually a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, acyl, or .omega.-hydroxyalkyl-polyoxyalkylene group or a lower alkyl ether of an .omega.-hydroxyalkyl-polyoxyalkylene group, and R' and R" may be coupled together to form a ring, and/or a metal ion sequestering agent, said alkanolamine and/or metal ion sequestering agent being contained in said microscopic capsules and/or a liquid medium wherein said microscopic capsules are dispersed.

    • When obtaining microcapsules by covering a hydrophobic material with an aminoaldehyde polycondensation product as a wall-forming material in an acidic aqueous medium containing an anionic water-soluble polymer, a microcapsule slurry having a high solid content and low viscosity can be obtained by using as the anionic water-soluble polymer a multi-component copolymer consisting as essential monomer components thereof of at least three types of acrylic monomers selected respectively from (A) acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, (B) acrylonitrile and/or methacrylonitrile and (C) an acrylamidoalkylsulfonic acid and/or sulfoalkyl acrylate. Over a wide pH range, the microcapsule slurry obtained in accordance with this invention undergoes little viscosity changes and exhibits neither destruction of its dispersed state nor coagulating tendency. Resulting microcapsules have a sharp particle size distribution and are equipped with dense wall films.
