    • PURPOSE:To decrease the substantial length of resonant tubes as the engine speed is increased, increase the inherent frequency as a columnar oscillating system, and obtain a resonant effect over a wide engine speed range by providing a through hole and sluice valves opening or closing the through hole and having an inherent frequency. CONSTITUTION:Pressure and speed changes are generated in resonant tubes 3A 3B on both sides of sluice valves 111-113 in response to the engine speed. The intake air alternately flows between both resonant tubes 3A, 3B through valves 111-113, and a force displacing a sluice valve plate 17 by oscillation is applied. When the engine speed is low, the amplitude is large, the sluice vlave plate 17 is depressed to a bulkhead 6, and an intake passage is closed. When the engine speed is high and the frequency of the pressure change is increase, the sluice valve plate 17 is oxcillated with a small amplitude without hitting the bulkhead 6 and the sluice valves are left open.

    • PURPOSE:To improve supercharging characteristics, by forming a ratio between an area corresponding to an inner diameter of the valve seat part and a cross- sectional area of an exhaust duct in a cylinder head extending from an exhaust valve seat part to an outlet of the cylinder head of an internal-combustion engine provided with an exhaust turbo-supercharger at 0.5-1.0. CONSTITUTION:An inner diameter of an exhaust duct 5 extending from a seat part of a valve seat 4 to an inlet of the exhaust duct 5, that is, from an inner diameter DTH to that DN of the valve seat 4 is set in a small size so that a cross-sectional area of the duct 5 ranges from an area ATH corresponding to the inner diameter DTH to an area AN corresponding to 0.5-1.0 times of the area ATH. A cross section of the exhaust duct extending from an inlet of the exhaust duct to an outlet 6 of a cylinder head is kept at the fixed area AN and its cross-sectional shape is in a shape close to a circle. In addition to the above, a bent part extending from a valve seat 4 part to an outlet 6 of the cylinder head is set in a large size so that a curving radius R at the center of the exhast duct is given by an expression R/DN>=1.0.
