    • PURPOSE:To enable delicate operation possible and to improve quality control by detecting the rotating angle of an eccentric shaft which moves upward and downward the rolls of a tension leveler and correct the intermesh in the case when the rolls wear. CONSTITUTION:A tension leveler is provided with plural sets of work rolls 12 supported respectively via lower and upper roll supports 4a, 4A on lower and upper traverse chocks 2, 3 as well as backup rolls 13 and deflector rolls 11 and improves the flatness of a strip 14 by forming a suitable intermesh IM. An electric motor 9 provided with a speed reducer is run to rotate an eccentric shaft 8 to move upward or downward the lower roll support 4a and to adjust the distance between the work roll 12 and the deflector roll 11 on wearing of the rolls in the above-mentioned tension leveler. The rotating angle of the shaft 8 is detected with a pulse generator 10, and the actual value of the intermesh is corrected from the relation A=IM'i-IM between the abrasion loss A of the roll and the intermesh IMi, IM'i before and after the wear of the rolls.

    • PURPOSE:To adjust easily the camber of a strip by making at least one of a pair of deflector rolls disposed on the opposite sides of a work roll in a tension leveler movable back and forth is the traveling direction of the strip. CONSTITUTION:A work roll 26, positioned underneath a strip 1, is supported movably and adjustably upward and downward by means of roll supports via two intermediate rolls 27a, 27b and three backup rolls 28a, 28b, 28c. On the other hand, a pair of deflector rolls 29a, 29b are provided forward and backward above a strip 1 in the traveling direction thereof and are independently supported by roll supports. The deflector roll 29b on the outlet side is made movable forward and backward and adjustable along the traveling direction. The change in the working radius of curvature is thus suppressed to about 1/10 of the influence to be given on the working radius of curvature when the intermeshing quantity is changed by the same quantity and the fluctuation of the camber is decreased accordingly.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the yield by cutting the side parts of a steel tape, whose margin for trimming is too narrow to cut with side trimmers, by means of welders, and cutting side parts having wide margin for trimming by the use of said side trimmers. CONSTITUTION:Welders 4 using laser, plasma, etc. are provided on the steel-type entering side of side trimmers 2. The margin for trimming is calculated by means of a width detector 5 in which a phototube, etc. is used. The operation of the welders 4 and the side trimmers 2 is controlled 6 based on said calculation. When the width to be cut is above 5mm., cutting is carried out by means of the side trimmers 2 while, when said width is 5mm. or less, cutting is conducted by means of the welders 4.

    • PURPOSE:To enable descaling of a thick plate or a high strength plate, and to enlarge its scope of application by applying bending intermeshings twice or more times to a work, in a scale breaker which applies a bending or a straightening intermeshing to a stretched work. CONSTITUTION:A work 53 coming into from the left side is kept in a stretched state by bridles 21, 25. In a tension leveller 23, the 1st intermeshing is applied to the work 53 by the ascent of a roll 25 of backup bending rolls 25, 26 located between the work rolls 24, 27, caused by the rotation of an eccentric shaft 41. Next, the 2nd intermeshing is applied by the ascent of a roll 29 of rolls 29, 30 located between work rolls 28, 31. Finally, the work 53 is straightened by the ascent of a roll 33 located between rolls 32. By applying these intermeshings twice or more times, a thick plate or a high strength plate can be descaled.
