CONSTITUTION:The position of a movable head 16 which has been controlled is decided by a time constant which decides the cutoff frequency of a servo band in a position control loop. The larger a loop gain is, the higher the cutoff frequency of the servo band is, and the cutoff frequency is converged quickly. In this case, a loop gain G1 being recorded is set to a low value by which the cutoff frequency of the servo band can suppress a change, in a square-wave pulse shape, caused by the noise of a transmission system. A loop gain G2 from the start of an operation up to the start of a recording operation is set to a value by which the cutoff frequency of the servo band is several Hz or lower and to a value which gives the cutoff frequency of the servo band which is larger than the G1 and is converged quickly. A time response from the start of the operation up to the start of the recording operation is quick, and, at the same time, it is possible to realize a position control system which can suppresses a change, in a position caused, by the noise of the transmission system.

Consequently, since air flowing through both sides of the airflow control member 22 into the inlet part 13 can be flowed backward through the airflow control member 22, the throttle of the incoming airflow is alleviated, while the floating amt. of the magnetic tape 1 due to the rise of the air pressure in the vicinity of the inlet part is also suppressed in its fluctuation. By this method, the recording and reproducing of a signal can be performed with high quality.

CONSTITUTION:Since the taper is partially added on the periphery of the window for magnetic head projection 302 with causing it to face the side of the fixed cylinder 2, a force operation on the magnetic tape 1 and facing downward is partially enlarged in the part of the magnetic head 7 much more than the part except for the taper part 306. Since the taper is generated on the whole periphery of the window 302, the magnetic tape 1 is imperious to be brought into contact with any edges of the window 302 and the contact of the magnetic tape 1 and the outer peripheral surface of the rotary cylinder 3 is impervious to occur in the rear side of the window 302. Thus, the magnetic tape can stably be travelled.
