    • PURPOSE:To ensure the accurate extraction even to the changes of vertical and horizontal sizes of a picked-up picture by calculating the enlargement ratio from the distribution of gradation histograms of the picked-up picture and estimating the position of another pattern from a character pattern serving as a base point to extract a character pattern. CONSTITUTION:The gradation histogram of an enlarged picked-up picture stored in a picture memory is fisrst obtained, and this result is supplied to a row register and a column register 6. The contents of the register 6 are equal to the horizontal size and the horizontal space of the maximum picked-up picture due to a certain bit. Then the distribution of gradation histograms of the character pattern of the 1st column, i.e., the character pattern of the base point is obtained from the contents of the register 6. Then the enlargement ratio is calculated from said distribution width and the know value of a reference picked-up picture. Based on this ratio, the positions of character patterns of the 2nd and 3rd columns are estimated. Then the extracting position of the character pattern is obtained from the distribution of the gradation histogram of the character pattern at the estimated position.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a measuring error by elongating the distance from the leading end of a beam transmitting optical probe to an object to be measured, by adding a convex lens in front of the beam transmitting optical probe and bringing emitted beams from the beam emitting optical probe to parallel ones in a predetermined range by said convex lens. CONSTITUTION:In beam transmitting probes 15a, 15b, the beams from an optical fiber are collimated to parallel beams by a micro-lens 5 and the beams from the lens 5 are further collimated by a convex lens 6. Therefore, beams emitted from the optical probes 15a, 15b form a beam waist BW in a predetermined region around a position separated from the focal distance (f) of the convex lens 6 and converted to parallel beams at this part. Then, the beams emitted from the probes 15a, 15b cross at an angle delta at the part where the beam waist BW was formed. Therefore, by an object 8 to be measured moving in this crossing region at a speed V, beams receive Doppler effect and scattered to be received by a probe 16. As a result, the measuring error to the variation in the distance from the leading ends of the optical probes 15a, 15b to the object 8 to be measured can be reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a stable control in the vertical vibration of a vibrating body by providing the vibrating body with a movable mass via a spring and an actuator and supporting the weight of the movable mass by the actuator for selecting the spring constant of the spring optionally. CONSTITUTION:Controller 8 receives the acceleration signal of an acceleration meter 7, and outputs a signal to generate a force to offset a control force proportional to the vibrating speed of a vibrating body and the weight of a movable mass 4 in an actuator 3. This construction permits to obtain a stable control for vibration since the weight of the movable mass 4 is unnecessary to be supported by a spring 2 and the spring constant of the spring 2 can be optionally selected without reference to the weight of the movable mass 4.
