    • A pigment composition for liquid toner which is prepared by dissolving/dispersing carbon black and a resin in a nonaqueous solvent. One of (1) carbon black containing not more than 10 ppm of grit and not more than 0.1 wt.% of ash, (2) carbon black in which the quotient of the division of the total quantity of oxygen determined on the basis of a 1500 DEG volatile component by the specific surface area is 0.20-0.40 mg/m , and (3) carbon black in which the content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in a liquid extracted by using monochlorobenzene is not more than 30 ppm, is used as the carbon black. The pigment composition is manufactured by kneading a pigment and a resin, freeze-pulverizing the resultant product, and then dissolving/dispersing the powder in a nonaqueous solvent. Thus a pigment composition for liquid toner enabling excellent image characteristics, especially, image characterisitics with a sufficiently high printing density, and a pigment composition for liquid toner exerting little influence upon a living body even if it is inhaled and having excellent image characteristics are provided.

    • Materials for media to be used for efficiently effecting the proliferation and acclimatization of plants to be tissue-cultured to thereby give mature seedlings; a process for producing these materials; and a culture method characterized by using these media. The tissue culture media are characterized by containing vermiculite having an average grain size of 0.1 to 10 mm and cellulose fibers having an average fiber length of 0.01 to 5 mm. In the culture method, the above medium is used in a light-transmittable container at least partly covered with a porous film having a gas permeability (air permeability: JIS P 8117) of, preferably, 1 to 50 sec/100 ml. By using a medium produced by molding a mixture of a specific vermiculite with cellulose fibers, the culture can be efficiently carried out with good handling characteristics and good rooting and growth can be achieved. Thus, good seedlings can be obtained by a single culture without resort to acclimatization. Moreover, these seedlings can be transplanted and grown as such in the soil for raising the same outside without damaging the roots. Combined use of the medium with a gas-permeable container makes these effects further remarkable.

    • A preventive and/or remedy for ischemic diseases containing as the active ingredient a hepatic parenchymal cell growth factor, for example, a proteinous factor with the following physicochemical properties: 1) having a molecular weight deduced from SDS-PAGE of about 76 to 92 kD; 2) having the activity of proliferating hepatic parenchymal cells; 3) this activity being lost by heating at 80 DEG C for 10 minutes; 4) this activity being lost by digesting with trypsin or chymotrypsin; 5) having a high affinity for heparin; etc. HGF employed as the active ingredient exerts the effect of suppressing cytotoxicyty in an ischemic model and, therefore, is efficacious as a preventive and/or remedy for ischemic diseases.

    • A method of diagnosing immune diseases which comprises the step of immunologically determining the CD80 antigen-positivity rate of the lymphocytes and/or lymphocyte subgroups contained in a body fluid sample separated from man by using, for example, an antihuman CD80 monoclonal antibody that recognizes CD80 antigens. The method is characterized in that it permits various immune diseases to be diagnosed readily and accurately and that, as compared with conventional diagnostic methods, it is simple in operation and does not much burden the patients because the object to be detected is lymphocytes contained in body fluids, such as peripheral blood, readily sampled from them. The invention also provides a medicine which contains as the active ingredient antihuman CD80 antibodies that specifically recognize human CD80 antigens and which can ameliorate or prevent immune disorder in a disease-specific way.
