    • In a particular embodiment, the door latch system includes a ratchet, a pawl, a release lever, a lock link, a double lock lever and a double lock override lever. The ratchet is movable between a closed position for holding a striker, and an open position. The pawl is movable between a ratchet locking position wherein the pawl holds the ratchet in the closed position, and a ratchet release position wherein the pawl permits the ratchet to move to the open position. The release lever is movable between a rest position and a pawl release position. The lock link is movable between an engagement position and a disengagement position. In the engagement position the lock link is positioned to transfer movement of the release lever to the pawl release position into movement of the pawl to the ratchet release position. In the disengagement position the lock link does not transfer movement of the release lever to the pawl release position into movement of the pawl to the ratchet release position. The double lock lever is movable between a double locking position wherein the double lock lever prevents movement of the lock link out of the disengagement position, and an undouble locking position wherein the double lock lever permits movement of the lock link to the engagement position. The double lock override lever is movable between a first position wherein the double lock override lever prevents the double lock lever from being in the double locking position, and a second position wherein the double lock lever is movable to the double locking position. The ratchet has a double lock override control surface thereon that is positioned to move the double lock override lever to the first position when the ratchet moves to the open position.

    • A power actuator ässembly for a latch includes first and second articulated levers (24, 30). The first lever includes cam follower surfaces (32A, 3213) and the second lever includes at least one stop member (28) which pivots between first and second positions as each lever (24, 30) travels between first and second positions. A motor-driven cam (16) having driving members (18A, 1813) and stop members (20A, 2013) drives the first (24) lever. More particularly, each driving member (18A, 1813) has a path of travel that engages one of the cam follower surfaces (32A, 3213) for a portion of the travel path to drive the first and second levers and is in disengaging alignment with the cam follower for another portion of travel. The cam stop members (20A, 2013) abut the stop member (28) of the second lever (30) when the cam driving members (18A, 1813) are in the non-aligned position, whereby the levers may be activated without driving the cam (16). The assembly can be employed, inter alia, in a lock application or a power release application so as to preclude the necessity of having to backdrive the power actuator.

    • A vehicle latch has a housing (18) with a detent (32) and a stop (34). A lever (12) is pivotally connected to the housing (18) and movable from an install position engaging the housing (18) to an active position pivoted away from the housing (18). A spring (16) extends from the lever (12) to the housing applying a biasing force to the lever (12) urging the lever to the install position. The spring (16) has a tail portion (20), a coil section (22) and an opposite end (24). The opposite end (24) engages the lever (12). The tail end (20) is moveable to engage either the stop (34) or detent (32). In the install position, the tail end (20) engages the detent (32) and also engages the lever (12). In this position, the spring (16) increases the biasing force holding the lever (12) in the install position. The tail end (20) is removable from the detent (32) to engage the stop when the lever (12) is first pivoted away from the install position. This disengages the tail end (20) from the lever (12) and also reduces the biasing force on the lever (12).

    • A vehicle latch has a housing and a ratchet (12) pivotally mounted to the housing. The ratchet is operable to move between an unlatched position, a secondary latched position, and a primary latched position. A release lever is pivotally mounted to the housing and operatively connects to the ratchet for unlatching the ratchet from either of the secondary or primary latched positions. The operative connection has a guide pin (32). A cinching lever (22) has a cam surface that slidingly engaging the guide pin. The cam surface defines a predetermined path of travel as the . cinching lever is drivingly reciprocated in a cinching cycle. The predetermined path enables the cinching lever to be initially out of the path of travel of the ratchet, to engage the ratchet when the ratchet is in the secondary position and drivingly rotating the ratchet to the primary latched position, and thereafter move out of the path of travel of the ratchet. The guide pin moves to urge the cinching lever out of the predetermined path when the release lever is operated in unlatching the latch.

    • In an embodiment, a latch includes a ratchet and pawl. A lock includes a link pivotable between unlocked and locked positions wherein a release lever operates the pawl, and the lever disconnects from the pawl respectively. A cam rotates between unlocking and locking positions wherein the link can move to the unlocked position, and the link pivots to the locked position respectively. An override member rotates between actuatable and non- actuatable positions wherein the lever can engage the override member to unlock the cam, and the lever disconnects from the override member respectively. The lock is positionable in an unlocked state wherein the link is unlocked, a locked state wherein the link is locked, the cam is in the locking position and the override member is actuatable, and a second locked state wherein the link is locked, the cam is in the locking position and the override member is non-actuatable.
