    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuous running at a high speed.
      SOLUTION: This wheel set having a gauge variable mechanism has a structure where a running torque of a main electric motor is transmitted via a roll spline 1 disposed between an axle 2 and a wheel 3 to the wheel 3 that is mounted to the axle 2 via a slide bearing 7 and is moved with respect to the gauge in the axial direction of the axle 2 and fixed in position to integrally rotate the axle 2 and the wheel 3. A bearing device 21 is disposed at the center position of the axle 2 and the roller spline 1 is disposed between the wheel 3 and the bearing device 21, thereby miniaturizing axle bearings 8 disposed at both ends of the axle 2 and reducing the unsprung mass. A position fixing device 11 of the wheel 3 is disposed in a shaft end of the axle 2 having the axle bearings 8. The axle bearings having a size equal to that of a normal wheel set can be used, so that temperature increase of the bearings or sealing property of lubrication that are caused by increase of circumferential speed can be solved and continuous running at the high speed is possible.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering truck for a railway vehicle capable of attaining reduction of lateral pressure during passing through a curve of the truck by assisting steering force by an actuator without active-controlling the actuator.
      SOLUTION: The actuator 15 is provided between a truck frame 2 and a steering beam 5, and is provided with an expandable/contactable hydraulic actuator body 18 connected to the truck frame 2 and the steering beam 5; an oil feeding means 19 for assisting expansion/contraction of the actuator body 18 by an oil pressure by feeding an operation oil to the actuator body 18 when the actuator body 18 is expanded/contracted by turning the truck frame 2 relative to the steering beam 5. Therefore, since swinging (turning) of the truck frame 2 is assisted by the actuator 15 and the truck frame 2 is quickly swung (turned) by relatively light force, rotation resistance of the truck (truck frame) 1 is reduced. As a result, the lateral pressure during passing through the curve can be reduced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal structure excellent in high speed rotation performance (performance corresponding to high rotation), capable of following large axial expansion and contraction with an inner member (inner ring) and an outer member (outer ring), and having little restriction on an installation space.
      SOLUTION: The seal structure seals a clearance between the inner member rotating around an axis and the outer member rotating around the axis and capable of relatively displacing with respect to the inner member along the axial direction. A cylindrical boot 72 which is elastically deformable has a large diameter part 72a attached to the outer member, and a small diameter part 72b attached to the inner member. The large diameter part 72a of the boot 72 is bent back from the inner diameter side to the small diameter part 72b side in a slide-in state where the small diameter part 72b is housed in the outer member. The small diameter part 72b is bent back from the outer diameter side to the large diameter part 72a side in a slide-out state where the small diameter part 72b is exposed from the outer member. Thus, it is possible to follow the axial relative displacement of the inner member and the outer member.
