    • A fiber optic connector attaches a fiber optic harness having a plurality of jacketed optic fibers to an optical device that has a flat rectangular contact surface. The connector comprises an outer member that has a plural number of non-linearly arrayed, grooves that receive individual jacketed optic fibers of the harness. An inner member wedge in the rear end of the outer member guides and holds individual jacketed optic fibers in the respective grooves. Each groove converges toward and communicates with a slot at the front end of the connector. The slot receives stripped end portions of the optic fibers and holds them in an abutting linear array for engagement with the flat rectangular contact surface of the optical device. The connector may also include latches for retaining the optic fibers individually and springs for biasing each individual optic fiber into engagement with the flat contact surface of the optic device.

    • A tire deflating blade system is disclosed having a plurality of tire deflating blade system modules that can be adjacently and pivotally connected together to form a tire deflating blade system of variable length. Each tire deflating blade system module comprises a base being generally rectangular in shape and having an end profile that is generally trapezoidal in shape. One or more blades are permanently disposed in the base and are rotatably connected to a shaft that runs longitudinally through the base, such that the blades can be moved between a retracted position for storage and an armed position for deflating tires upon the longitudinal movement of the shaft. The blades are very strong having a plurality of sharpened edges and at least two points. A cover plate is positioned over each blade to ensure safety while handling and storing the device while the blades are in the retracted position, thereby preventing anyone and any thing from being cut by the blades. In addition, a means for warning oncoming traffic is incorporated in the tire deflating blade system module, such as a barber pole, that is also rotated between an upright and retracted position upon the longitudinal movement of the shaft.

    • A lamp monitor for detecting the failure of headlamps and other lamps on an automotive vehicle includes a failure detection circuit coupled to the lamp circuit to produce an output whenever the lamp circuit is operating and a failure occurs. A latch circuit responsive to the detector output and powered from the vehicle battery latches into a failure state when a lamp failure is detected and maintains that state even though the lamp circuit or the vehicle ignition circuit is switched off. The latch output triggers an indicator circuit to reveal an indication or warning when the vehicle ignition switch is turned on even though the lamp circuit is turned off and the ignition switch has been opened subsequent to the detected failure. Upon correction of the failure, the detector resets the latch circuit when the lamp circuit is actuated to disable the display.

    • A heat shrinkable covering in the form of a sheet which is heat shrinkable in a longitudinal direction, and a stiffening member connected at each of two longitudinally spaced transversely extending superimposable zones of the sheet. One stiffening member has holes and the other studs in the form of arm portions which are insertable through the holes to secure the stiffening members together. The arm portions can be flattened down onto the outside of the covering to retain the stiffening members together while reducing risk of the studs interfering with items such as cables adjacent the covered article. Preferably the studs have a resiliently compressible head portion which snap fits into holes formed through the sheet adjacent the holes in the stiffening member to facilitate locating the overlapped zones of the sheet relative to one another. In use, the sheet is wrapped around an article, the stiffening members are engaged together, and the sheet is then heat shrunk. The stiffening members support the juxtaposed edges of the sheet at points intermediate the coupling points, thus resisting the tendency for the edges of the sheet to separate as a result of the hoop stresses generated in the sheet on shrinking.
