    • PURPOSE:To measure setting time quantitatively by rotating a smaple wherein the refractory material of indefinite size is kneaded at every preset time interval, and pushing a detecting body to a side surface of the sample by a specified stroke. CONSTITUTION:The sample is put in each sample container 1, and a geared motor 18 is started. The detedting body 14 is advanced together with a compressing load cell 16, inserted into the sample container 1 through a measuring window 4, and pushed to the side wall of the sample to be mesured. Said detecting body 14 is pushed by the specified stroke, then a limit switch 20 at a leading side is actuated at this time point, and the body 14 is stopped. The compression resisting force of the sample is measured by the output of the load cell 16. The sample container 1 is intermittently rotated by a motor 12, and the compression resisting force of the other side surface of the sample is also meausred. From the time point when said compression resisting force has reached a preset value, the time required for the setting of the sample can be immediately determined. In this constitution, the setting time of the sample, wherein the refractory mateial of indefinite size is kneaded can be quantitatively measured.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce considerably an application time and to obtain a lining in a blast furnace spout having a long service life by packing a casting spout material of the same material as the materal of plural blocks into the longitudinal space of a prescribed size formed between the inside surface of the spout and the outside surface of the blocks and drying and hardening said material. CONSTITUTION:An old material part 4 is preliminarily cut off to leave >=70mm. space between a block 1 and the material 4 of a blast furnace spout 3. Suspension bars 5 are passed through suspension hooks 2 and the block 1 is hoisted with the hooks 6 and is set in the spout 3. The space in the joint part 7 between the blocks 1 and 1 is set at 30-100mm. and after the required number of the blocks 1 are set, the joint part 7 is sealed with a backing plate 8. A casting spout material 9 of the same material as the block 1 is thereafter cast into the space between the material 4 and the blocks and in the joint part between the blocks 1 and 1. After the material 9 is dried and hardened, the plate 8 and the bars 5 are removed and the lining of the spout is completed.
