摘要： An image forming apparatus for producing a visible image on an image forming medium includes a photosensitive drum for carrying a latent image thereon, a developer for developing the latent image to form a developed image on the photosensitive drum, and a transferring drum for supporting the image forming medium and transferring the developed image onto the image forming medium. The image forming apparatus further includes a stepping motor, which has a plurality of exciting windings, for rotating the photosenstive drum, a driver for driving the stepping motor, and a controller for controlling the driver such that the plurality of exciting windings are switched to be excited in a prescribed manner, the controller periodically varying the switching time intervals for exciting the windings in correspondence to variations in the rotational speed of the stepping motor.

摘要： According to this invention, optical the path lengths from two semiconductor laser oscillators to a photosensitive body are different from each other. Oscillation is switched between the two semiconductor laser oscillators to change the beam shape of a laser beam on the photosensitive body. Since the beam shape of the laser beam can be controlled at accurate timings, a good image can be obtained, and a thin line and a high quality gradation image can be reproduced on a single image. An image having no gradation levels and an image having gradation levels can be simultaneously formed both with high quality.
