    • An internal cooling structure for a motor, which is effective to remove the heat in the rotor to achieve high cooling effect is provided. The motor includes a stator having a stator coil and a stator core, and a rotor positioned on an inner side of the stator core. The rotor includes a tubular rotor spindle on a rotor drive shaft, and the rotor core is fitted to the rotor spindle. A cooling space is defined between the rotor drive shaft and the rotor spindle. An inner peripheral surface of the rotor spindle confronting the cooling space has tapered shape having large diameter at an end portion. An oil feed passage for a cooling oil is defined inside the rotor drive shaft, and a cooling oil discharge port of such oil feed passage is formed in the rotor drive shaft confronting the cooling space.

    • A drive motor for an electrically powered automotive vehicle is provided which includes a motor stator including a magnetic body and coils. The inner peripheral surface of the magnetic body has a plurality of teeth protruding therefrom, around which the coils are wound. The drive motor also includes a motor housing mounted to an outer periphery of the motor stator to retain the motor stator. The outer peripheral surface of the magnetic body includes cutout portion(s) formed at circumferential location(s) thereof, with the circumferential location(s) being at the same phase as those of the teeth. An inner peripheral surface of the motor housing includes engagement portion(s) formed at circumferential location(s) thereof, with the circumferential location(s) being opposed to the cutout portion(s). The engagement portion(s) is/are engageable with the cutout portion(s). The engagement portion(s) and the cutout portion(s) cooperate with each other to form arresting unit(s) for arresting the motor stator.

    • A drive motor for an electric vehicle is an IPM motor including a motor rotor (25), which is made up of a rotor core portion (29) having an inner peripheral surface, which is mounted externally on a rotary output shaft (24) and which is round in sectional shape, and a permanent magnet (30) disposed within the rotor core portion (29). At a circumferential position which will become proximate to a site of the permanent magnet (30), displaced towards an outer diametric side of the rotor core portion (29), an inner peripheral surface of the rotor core portion (29) and an outer peripheral surface of the rotary output shaft are provided with respective non-round shaped portions (29a, 24a) of a circular shape in section, which form respective parts of a detention or arresting unit (31) for arresting the motor rotor (25) from rotating relative to the rotary output shaft (24).

    • A vehicle drive motor, capable of efficiently cooling the motor stator without being accompanied by an increase in size, includes a stator having an annular stator core, provided in an inner periphery of a tubular motor casing, and a stator coil provided in the stator core, and a rotor on an inner side of the stator core and rotatable relative to the stator. The motor casing includes an oil supply passage and an oil discharge passage in the motor casing and opening at an inner diametric surface of the motor casing, which are opposite axially to each other. Stator core grooves communicated with the oil supply passage and the oil discharge passage extend axially in an outer diametric surface of the stator core. Accordingly, lubricant oil may flow from the oil supply passage towards the oil discharge passage through the stator core groove.
