    • An electric steam iron having a standard steam spray mode for spraying a standard quantity of steam and an enhanced steam spray mode for spraying an increased quantity of steam as compared with that afforded during the standard steam spray mode. This electric steam iron includes a soleplate having a heater mounted thereon for heating the soleplate and a vaporizing chamber defined therein, a handle disposed above the soleplate, a water tank unit for supplying water to the vaporizing chamber, and a nozzle disposed at a bottom of the water tank unit. The electric steam iron also includes a valving mechanism for selectively opening and closing the nozzle for controlling supply of water to the vaporizing chamber, and a pumping mechanism for supplying an increased quantity of water within the water tank unit towards the vaporizing chamber to accomplish the enhanced steam spray mode. A cover plate is secured to a bottom wall member of the water tank unit so as to define a water passage beneath the water tank unit and covering the pumping mechanism and an exit side of the nozzle. This cover plate has an opening defined therein in communication with the vaporizing chamber.

    • A steam sprayer is used in ironing textile products, including clothes. The steam sprayer is user-friendly and offers highly effective ironing. A vaporizing chamber generates steam by vaporizing water stored in a tank. A water-supplying unit supplies the vaporizing chamber with the water. A steam-ejecting section spouts the steam outside. The steams-ejecting section includes a ironing surface with high frictional resistance characteristics. When touching the ironing surface to clothes or other fabrics for ironing, a pulling force is caused by the frictional resistance, which is a preferable wrinkles-off effect. Thus, the steam sprayer offers a synergistic effect brought by spouting the steam and applying the pulling force to clothes, thereby neatly fixing the form of clothes.

    • For an image-capturing unit having a light source and mirrors directing light reflected from a scanned document into a lens condensing the light onto a photoelectrically converting image sensor, a synthetic resin housing. The housing is composed of an open-ended upper frame having a top plate from which sidewalls extend, encompassing an internal space. A mounting surface for anchoring the light-source is formed on the upper side of the upper-frame top plate, and formed on the lower side of the upper-frame top plate is a pedestal on which the lens is supported. Mirror-support projections are formed on the lower side of the upper-frame top plate, or on the upper-frame sidewalls, to support the mirrors from below the lens. With this housing, the influence of heat from the light source on the optics is minimized, improving the mirrors' positional accuracy.

    • An optical system, imaging device and high-resolution processing method precisely generate a high-resolution image by using image data with few pixels. The optical system images an optical image in an imaging unit, the imaged image is spatially discretized so as to be sampled and converted into an image signal, thereby being recorded in a recording unit. A timing at which the image is imaged by the imaging unit is recorded in an imaging timing recording unit. A weight coefficient for the image is calculated by a weight calculating unit by utilizing the timing information obtained by the imaging timing recording unit. A high-resolution processing unit generates a high-resolution image by using the weighted information of the image generated by the weight calculating unit.
