When a content reproducer reproduces the content recorded in the exchangeable medium, determines the viewing time limit of the content and records it to the exchangeable medium. When the exchangeable medium which is reproduced by the content reproducer is installed, the control unit causes to set a viewing time limit of the related content to the same time limit as the viewing time limit of the content on the exchangeable medium and causes to validate the viewing license of the related content.

    • A license receiver comprises a viewing license invalidating unit which invalidates a viewing license of a content a viewing time limit of which is not determined, and a first control unit. When the first control unit reproduces the content, (i) if the viewing license is valid, the first control unit determines the viewing time limit, and (ii) if the viewing license is invalid, the first control unit transmits a viewing license request including a request of determining viewing time limit, to the license server, and receives the determined viewing time from the license server. When the first control unit writes out the content to an exchangeable medium before reproducing the content, if the viewing license is valid, the first control unit invalidates the viewing license and writes out the non-determined viewing time limit to the exchangeable medium.

    • An AV data transmission apparatus includes an encryption unit which encrypts AV data, an AV data transmission unit which transmits the encrypted AV data, a cipher-type-information switching unit which switches cipher type information indicating a cipher scheme used for the AV data, to other cipher type information, and a cipher-type-information transmission unit which transmits cipher type information. When transmitting AV data which is prohibited from being used in a reception apparatus that does not support new usage control information, the AV data transmission apparatus assigns different cipher type information, which is used to notify the reception apparatus, so that even the reception apparatus which cannot recognize the new usage control information can recognize its inability to perform decryption is due to new encryption performed by the AV data transmission apparatus.

    • Methods for realizing advanced graphical user interface (GUI) in panel subunit. The present invention provides, in one embodiment, a button GUI element descriptor that defines a bitmap to be displayed when a button is out of focus and another bitmap to be displayed when the button is in focus. In another embodiment, the present invention provides a table GUI element descriptor that defines a table-like on screen display to be displayed on the controller device. Another embodiment of the present invention provides a panel GUI element descriptor that includes a focused identifier attribute indicating a pre-determined element of the on-screen display as default focus. In this way, the target device would be able to control the default focus of the controller device when displaying an on-screen display. In yet another embodiment, the present invention provides a text GUI element descriptor that includes a font style attribute that dictates whether the text GUI element should be displayed as bold, underlined and/or reversed. By using these extended elements in panel subunit, more complicated and advanced GUI, such as an electronic programming guide (EPG) can be achieved.

According to this method, by hardening the surface-side portion of the primary molding body by a smaller compression amount, the binding of the woody material is loosely affected with small mutual contact areas, with the molding material being at a lower density. Further, by hardening the central portion of the primary molding body by a larger compression amount, the binding of the woody material is densely affected with large mutual contact areas, with the molding material being at a higher density. Thus, it is possible to obtain a woody molded product having a soft, low-density portion in the surface region and a hard, high-density portion in the central region.
