    • In a duplex image transferring device of the present invention, a first bicolor toner image formed by a developing liquid is transferred to one side of a sheet. This toner image on the sheet includes a carrier liquid layer containing a liquid carrier of an amount not great enough to serve as an electrophoresis medium for a toner layer deposited on the sheet, but sufficient to serve as a parting agent for the toner layer and an intermediate image transfer belt contacting the toner image. Subsequently, a bicolor toner image of the same polarity as the toner layer is transferred to the other side of the sheet. It is possible to transfer the toner images to both sides of the sheet without switching back the one-sided sheet, without using two kinds of toner each being chargeable to particular polarity or without charging one toner image to the opposite polarity with a corona charger.

    • A color recording apparatus has an electric charge carrier which is circulatingly movable, an electrostatic latent image forming unit for forming a latent image which corresponds to an original image on the carrier, a development unit for developing the latent image; a transfer unit for transferring the developed image formed on the carrier to a record paper in a transfer process, a conveyor for conveying the record paper forward and backward with respect to the transfer unit, and a control unit which repeats control operations for controlling the latent image forming unit to form a latent image on the carrier, for controlling the development unit to develop the latent image, for controlling the conveyor to convey the record paper forward, for controlling the transfer unit to transfer the developed image to the record paper, and for controlling the conveyor to convey the record paper backward at least for one time. The control unit controls the conveyor prior to the transfer process so that the record paper is positioned at a point which is a predetermined distance before a transfer point and that a forward movement of the record paper is started on the basis of an information signal which is output in response to a state of starting an electrostatic latent image forming operation each time the transfer process is carried out.

    • A color recording method wherein equal amounts of photoconductive toner particles of three primary colors are uniformly mixed and applied as a layer on a doner member. Optical color images are projected onto this layer, thereby selectively decreasing the resistivities of the toner particles in patterns corresponding to the optical color images. Simultaneously or immediately thereafter there is applied a voltage thereacross, thereby selectively injecting charge into the photoconductive toner particles with decreased electric resistivities to form a charge distribution in the mixed toner layer corresponding to the projected optical color images. Using the charge distribution formed in the mixed toner layer, color recording is then performed by transferring the toner particles to a recording sheet in accordance with the charge distribution.

    • A photoconductive member (11) has a conductive substrate (11a) on which is formed a first photoconductive layer (11b) which is insensitive to red light but sensitive to at least one other color component of white light and a second photoconductive layer (11c) formed on the first layer (11b) which is sensitive to red light. A first electrostatic charge of a first polarity is formed at the interface between the first and second layers (11b), (11c). A second electrostatic charge of a second polarity is formed on the second layer (11c). A light image having black, white and red areas is radiated onto the second layer (11c). The white light causes both layers (11b), (11c) to conduct and dissipate all charge. The red light causes only the second layer (11c) to conduct to form a bipolar electrostatic image. Black toner which is electrostatically charged to the first polarity and red toner which is electrostatically charged to the second polarity are applied to the member ( 11) to form a bicolor toner image which is fixed to the member (11) or transferred to a copy sheet and fixed thereto. The magnitude of the second charge is sufficiently smaller than the magnitude of the first charge to allow formation of a bipolar elctrostatic image in which the positive and negative image areas have electrostatic potential magnitudes sufficient to constitute electrostatic images for electrostatography.

Furthermore, concentration data of SiF4 in a gas discharged from the reaction chamber are monitored by a Fourier transform infrared spectrometry and compared with prestored concentration data of SiF4 to decide that the predetermined time has passed when a predetermined cleaning end point concentration is reached, thereby ending the cleaning.
