    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extending and contracting basket body capable of achieving excellent reduction ratio and high strength and to provide a manufacturing method for the basket body by providing a compact, simple, and rotatable connection means in a crossing part of a hoop and a strand and joining the hoop and the connection means mutually by a method other than welding.
      SOLUTION: Reinforcing rings 7 having a solid structure are arranged at a predetermined interval at the inner periphery of the strand 5 to restrain bending deformation and twisting deformation of the strand 5 which occur when the basket body 1 is extended and contracted. Since it is unnecessary for a hoop connection means to restrain the bending deformation and the twisting deformation of the strand 5, the hoop and the strand are mutually connected by the simple method other than welding. When the basket body 1 is extended and contracted, the reinforcing rings 7 and the hoop 3 are mutually connected at a predetermined interval like a bamboo blind by a hoop connection member to keep fixed pitch of the hoop 3.

When the strands 3 are bent in a direction denoted by an arrow A, the strands 3 rotate to change a cross angle between the strands 3 and the hoop reinforcements 5, which brings the strands 3 into spiral shape while gradually reducing the arrangement intervals between the hoop reinforcements 5, thus reduces the length of the basket 1. The shortened basket 1 allows construction of reinforcing bars even in a narrow space, and facilitates transportation and storage of the reinforcing bars.
