    • PURPOSE: To reliably secure a platform to the bottom of the sea when a storage tank is empty and to perform a thermal insulation by virtue of sand ballast, by a method wherein the lower end of the storage tank is built as a double bottom, an outer periphery is covered with sand ballast, and a cover is placed over the upper end to erect pillars.
      CONSTITUTION: An off-shore platform 10 has a squre outer peripheral wall 11a, and consists of an underwater structure 11 and pillars 12, emerging from the sea surfaces and a deck 13 secured to the pillars 12. The main bottom part of the underwater structure 11 is of a double shell bottom 14, and has the properties to insulate heat and isolate water. A reinforced concrete side wall 16 of the storage tank 15 emerges from the double bottom 14. A steel sheet lining 31 is applied to the inner wall of each storage tank 15 through the medium of an insulating material 30. An open part between the upper end of the square outer peripheral wall 11a and a storage tank cover 17 is covered with sand ballast chamber cover 19 to form sand ballast chambers 21 at the lower end of the square outer peripheral wall 11a and around the double bottom 14. Even if the storage tank 15 becomes completely empty, the sand ballast causes the platform to be reliably secured to the bottom of the sea.

Then, a teel tubular pile 7 is inserted through the casing pipe 6 into the excavated hole D of rock-bed by utilizing a leader 3, and then a grout material is packed into the space between the steel tubular pile 7 and the rock-bed C through the steel tubular pile 7 to integrally combine the rock-bed C and the steel tubular pile 7. Lastly, the casing pipe 6 is pulled out.

      CONSTITUTION: A platform 10 consists of a storage tank 15, sinking in the sea, an outer peripheral wall 11a of the storage tank 15, and a deck 13 positioned above the sea surface and supported by stays 12. Two pillars 22, alongside which a ship comes, are caused to emerge from the sea surface through the outer peripheral wall 11a and a top part of a structure. A fender 23 is attached to the pillars 22. A ship 24 is moored at a mooring buoy 25 through a hawser 26a, and is pulled toward the platform 10 by a hawser 26b through the use of bolland 27 fitted on the deck 13.

    • PURPOSE: To facilitate miniaturizing of a temperature of crude oil in an oil storage tank and to enable a tanker to easily come alongside the berth, by a method wherein a sand ballast chamber is installed between a square outer peripheral wall and a storage tank having a circular section.
      CONSTITUTION: An off-shore platform 10 consists of an underwater structure part having a square outer periphery wall 11a, pillars 12, and a deck 13. The bottom of the underwater structure part is of a double shell bottom 14. A space between a storage tank 15 and a structure wall 18 is thermally insulated. The platform 10 is tugged, water is poured at an installation spot to seat it on the bottom of the sea E, and a sand ballast chamber 21 is filled with sand. The adjustment of an amount of sand, wherewith the sand ballast chamber 21 is filled, permits the platform 10 to seat on the bottom of the sea even if the storage tank 15 becomes empty. This eliminates the need for the replacement of oil with water and facilitates maintaining of a crude oil temperature. Additionally, the formation in a square of the outer peripheral wall 11a enables a tanker to easily come alongise a berth.
