SOLUTION: This powder coating composition for the inner surface of a water pipe is characterized in that the composition comprises 100 pts.wt. epoxy resin having 500-2,000 g/eq. epoxy equivalent, a 6-20C alkyldicarboxylic anhydride as a curing agent in an amount of 0.7-1.3 times as much as the glycidyl equivalent of the epoxy resin expressed in terms of the equivalent, 0.1-9.5 pts.wt. quaternary ammonium halide, and 10-130 pts.wt. pigment component.

SOLUTION: The powder coating composition for cast iron pipe contains a solid bisphenol epoxy resin, a curing agent and a filler as essential components. The solid epoxy resin is produced by reacting a bisphenol F epoxy resin with a polycondensation product of a phenol having a binuclear component content of >=90 wt.% and a ketone compound, the epoxy equivalent of the solid epoxy resin is 500-2,500 g/eq and the bonding site of the carbon atom originated from the ketone group on the aromatic ring relative to the phenyl ether group satisfies the relationship of (ortho, ortho)/(para, para)=0.01 to 0.50.
