    • PURPOSE: A low complexity variable order short-term predictor for forming an MPEG-4 ALS VLSI is provided to reduce complexity when MPEG-4 ALS hardware is formed. CONSTITUTION: A pre-determining block(110) generates a modified prediction order in response to an inputted prediction order value. A loop controller(120) determines the numbers of repetition and flag signals in response to the modified prediction order value. An FIR(Finite Impulse Response) filter(160) receives a sampled signal. A pipeline stall is applied to the FIR filter according to radix-2 algorithm. The FIR filter filters the sampled signal. An output block(180) adds a determined result of the loop controller to a filtered output result of the FIR filter.

    • The present invention relates to a multimedia data processing method by a framework, in which the framework is capable of directly controlling data input and output of components in a state of the framework being interposed between the components and an application program, thereby reducing the time and effort involved in developing the components or the application program. The multimedia data processing method of the present invention is performed by a multimedia framework between the application program and at least one component for basically supporting an indirect communication mode in which the multimedia framework controls data input and output and for selectively supporting a direct communication mode in which the multimedia framework does not control the data input and output. The method comprises the steps of: (a) inquiring about a supportable communication mode of the component; and (b) configuring a media graph by selectively using the indirect communication mode or the direct communication mode if the component supports the direct communication mode, according to the result of the inquiry in the step (a).

    • The present invention relates to a multimedia-data-processing method which enables a media graph to always be constructed in a "connection without negotiation" manner, on the basis of an already known media graph construction, and thus provides a media framework in which procedures for connecting components are minimized, thereby improving the performance of a system and satisfying the requests of an OS platform builder and a media application developer. The multimedia-data-processing method of the present invention is performed by a multimedia framework, and comprises: (a) a step of receiving component information required for the construction of the media graph and component connection information from a media application; and (b) a step of ensuring that the media graph is constructed by the content received in step (a), and that the media graph waits for a rendering command, thereby eliminating the necessity of permitting the media application to check the construction of the media graph.
