摘要： An optical detector for spectroscopic analysis of a substance within a given spectrum has a first resolution at a first part of the spectrum (101,102) and a second resolution, different from the first resolution, at a second part of the spectrum, different from the first part of the spectrum. High resolution may be used at the important parts of the spectrum only, which thus results in less overall resolution. The detector may be used in a non-invasive glucose detection system having non-equally distributed spectral resolution.

摘要： A method and device (1) for calculating the concentration of glucose in skin (12) are described, wherein the skin (12) is illuminated by polarized NIR light (5) provided by a NIR source (2) and a polarizer (3) and a absorbance spectrum of the skin is detected by passing backscattered light (6) through an analyzer (7) to a spectrometer (8). The device may further comprises patches (9,10) for stretching the skin in a stretching direction (11). By measuring a first absorbance spectrum with the skin being in a first, unstreched state and a second absorbance spectrum with the skin being in a second, stretched state the contribution of collagen to the absorbance spectrum may be determined and a corresponding correction may be applied in the calculation of the glucose concentration.

摘要： The invention relates to the field of monitoring the degree of hydration of the human body based on measuring the time for refilling an occluded blood vessel with blood, especially by measuring vein refilling time (VRT) and/or capillary refilling time (CRT). According to the invention, a method I is proposed wherein tissue comprising the blood vessel is irradiated with linearly polarized light of at least one predefined wavelength; the part of the reflected light which is orthogonally polarized with respect to the irradiated light is collected as an image; the blood vessel is occluded, in order to remove the blood from the blood vessel; occlusion of the blood vessel is released in order to allow the blood to refill the blood vessel; the image is analyzed with respect to the flow of blood cells; and the time necessary for regaining a predefined flow of blood cells after release of occlusion is measured. With this method, specific, accurate and easy monitoring of the degree of hydration of the human body is possible.

摘要： Measuring reflectance of skin uses an adjustable probe having an illuminator (100) for directing light of more than one wavelength at a given angle onto the skin, a collector (95, 110, 122, 128) for collecting light reflected from the sample at a given angle, and an adjuster (5, 98, 122, 200, Ml, M2), for continuously adjusting the angle of the illuminating light or the collected light. Reflectance is determined according to a predetermined relationship between penetration depth at which the reflections occur, and the wavelength and the angle of adjustment. The angle can be continuously adjusted according to the relationship, or measurements can be selected, so as to maintain a constant penetration depth for a spectrum of wavelengths.
