摘要： The invention relates to a microelectronic sensor device and a method for the investigation of biological target substances (20), for example oligonucleotides like DNA fragments. In one embodiment, the device comprises a reaction surface (RS) to which target specific reactants (10) are attached and which lies between a sample chamber (SC) and an array of selectively controllable heating elements (HE). The temperature profile in the sample chamber (SC) can be controlled as desired to provide for example conditions for a PCR and/or for a controlled melting of hybridizations. The reactant (10) and/or the target substance (20) comprises a label (12) with an observable property, like fluorescence, that changes if the target substance (20) is bound to the reactant (10), said property being detected by an array of sensor elements, for example photosensors (SE). The fluorescence of the label (12) may preferably be transferred by FRET to a different fluorescent label (22) or quenched if the target substance (20) is bound.

摘要： In the invention, e-book information is distributed on un-cartridged small media that can be made cheaply enough for use in free distribution of information. The e-book information is encoded and stored on a read-only optical disc that is 2 to 4 cm in diameter and .6 to 1.2 mm thick, the information being encoded with sufficient redundancy and sufficient tolerance for missing information that the disc can be conveniently handled and pocketed without losing reliability of information access. The disc has a lead-in area that is prior to all the e-book information and that contains a disc navigation area, and a lead-out area that follows all the e-book information. The disc may include multiple partitions, each partition containing sufficient access information for independent access of the e-book information within the partition without accessing any other partition. Alternatively, the disc may include multiple slots for files and that are equally spaced. For example, to provide data redundancy, at least some of the partitions are duplicate partitions that contain all the same data as another duplicate partition, and the disc navigation area contains partition descriptors that indicate all the partitions and the areas allocated to each of the partitions, and the disc also includes duplicates of the partition descriptors, the duplicate partition descriptors being stored in the lead-in area or in the lead-out area to provide redundancy of navigation information.

摘要： A method for driving an organic LED display device having a first and a second electrode sandwiching an organic layer defining a plurality of light emitting elements. The method comprises applying to a light emitting element a voltage within a specified voltage range, within which the risk of short circuits between the electrodes is reduced, and controlling the duty cycle of said light emitting element, so that a desired light intensity is emitted from said light emitting element. The probability of short circuits in pixels of an organic LED display device is thus reduced by avoiding operating the display pixels within voltage ranges where the chance of short circuits is high. This limitation of the applied voltage is compensated by controlling the duty cycle of the light emitting element.
