From this, a current value (Ix) of the armature current (Ia) which is expected at a later point in time (t3) is extrapolated, wherein, in the event of a discrepancy (?Iax) between the armature current (Ia) detected at this later point in time (t3) and the extrapolated armature current (Ix), a ripple count for detecting the current ripple (Rn), in particular the first current ripple (R1) produced during runup of the DC motor (2), is started.

    • A method for detecting a regulating variable (M), in particular the motor position or the positioning path, of a mechanically commutated DC motor (2) in a positioning device (1) for a motor vehicle is provided, wherein the DC motor (2) has a standard ripple pattern (29) by mechanical or electromechanical modification, which contains per engine cycle or engine semi-cycle (Z) at least one index ripple (R1), which is classified with regard to amplitude (AR), duration and/or time position.
