    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make easy loading of a load sensitive type shock absorber on a vehicle, and ensure riding comfortableness of the vehicle while the damping ratio is kept in a prescribed range when a variable control of the damping characteristics is performed. SOLUTION: The base end sides of respective valve springs 15, 16 provided on the back faces of an extension side damping valve 13 and a pressure side damping valve 14 arranged on a piston 4, are individually supported by adjusting cylinder mechanisms 23, 24, and the internal pressure of an air suspension device is introduced from outside to the adjusting cylinder mechanisms 23, 24 through a conduction passage 29 provided in a piston rod 5. As the internal pressure is changed, the adjusting cylinder mechanisms 23, 24 switch preset loads of the valve springs 15, 16 to adjust the cracking pressure of the extension side- and pressure side damping valves 13, 14, and the generated damping characteristics are variably controlled continuously or in two stages in elevation in accordance with the change in the internal pressure of the air suspension device.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify structure, to improve processability and assembly ability, and to reduce a cost. SOLUTION: This base isolation and vibration-control device comprises a body mass 11; a ball body receiving part 12 for the lower part of the body mass 11; a spherical body 14 rotatably fitted in the central spherical surface of the ball body receiving part 12; a spherical seat 16 formed in the under surface of the body mass 11 opposite to the spherical body 14; ball reservoirs 17a and 17b formed in the body mass 11 and the ball body receiving part 12 and connected to the end part of the spherical seat 16; and a number of ball bearings 18 rotatably contained between the spherical body 14 and the spherical seat 16 and in the ball reservoirs 17a and 17b. The body mass 11 is coupled to a member on the moving side and the spherical body 14 is rotably arranged on a conical recessed part 20 of the seat part 19 on a fixed side, and horizontal relative displacement between the member on the moving side and the seat part 19 on the fixed side is permitted. The ball reservoirs 17a and 17b consist of an annular groove vertically formed in the body mass 11; and a curved annular groove formed between the under surface of the body mass 11 and the upper surface of the spherical receiving part 12.
