    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a measuring apparatus by which the bend amount of a circular section material can be measured in a noncontact manner and without forming a specially long section on a conveyance line by a method wherein two one-dimensional range finders are installed on the vertical face which is parallel to a rail and the bend mount of the circular section material is computed on the basis of the vertical distance, up to the circular section material from the range finders, which is measured when the circular section material is passed directly on the range finders and on the basis of an equipment factor value. SOLUTION: A one-dimensional range finder 11 and a one-dimensional range finder 12 are arranged on the vertical face which is parallel to a pair of rails so as to be separated by about 1/2 of the diameter of a circular section material 3 in its conveyance direction. When the circular section material 3 is rolled directly on the one-dimensional range finder 11 on the upstream side, the vertical distance up to the lowermost end part of the circular section material 3 from the range finder 11 is measured, and a measured value m+x is obtained. In addition, when the circular section material 3 is rolled directly on the one- dimensional range finder 12 on the downstream side, the vertical distance up to the lowermost end part of the circular section material 3 from the range finder 12 is measured, and a measured value n+y is obtained. (m) and (n) are known as equipment specifications, and (x) and (y) can be obtained by a calculation. When the measured values are input to a computing device, the bend amount of the circular section material 3 can be obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable cutting with the optimum yield by determining the combination of plural long materials to be continuously arranged and cut at the same time in such a manner as to minimize the total of cut-off amounts of all long materials of a suitably set long material group and a second long material group arranged immediately after the above group. SOLUTION: In cutting two groups in which the next group is added to each one group of combination of raw materials to be cut, by using the order of arranging rolled long materials and the stretching length thereof, a cutting pattern and combination are calculated to minimize the cut-off amount, and sequentially the group is determined one by one from the beginning of the rolling order. At the time of determining the second group, the result of calculation on the second group at the time of determining the first group is disregarded, and independently the calculation is performed to minimize the cut-off amounts of the second group with the third group. Thus, it is possible to carry out the calculation for a cutting method which is on-line, has small load and has the optimum yield.
