    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling method for obtaining a special shaped steel bar having extremely high dimensional accuracy by satisfying the degree of fullness in the nodal grooves of a roll and simultaneously preventing excessive over-filling in the outside diameter of ribs. SOLUTION: At the time of forming nodes 2 on the surface of a material S to be rolled having approximately round cross-sectional shape with the nodal grooves 7 which are formed at prescribed intervals in the circumferential direction of the grooves of the rolls R1 -R7 of a four-roll rolling mill arranged in at least the final finishing mill of a continuous rolling mill for wires and rods, tension of 0.2-1.2 kgf/mm is imparted to the material S to be rolled between the four-roll rolling mill and the rolling mill just before it. By this impartation of tension, the dimension L3 of the outside diameter of a ribs 3 in four places of the circumference which are formed on the surface of the material S to be rolled by over filling in the clearances with an adjacent roll of the four-roll rolling mill is adjusted.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a deformed bar having the height of node satisfying a prescribed standard by rolling with the same finishing rolls even when the diameter is different by reducing a base stock from orthoganally crossed directions by two pairs of four rolls provided with peripheral grooves and nodal grooves at the time of forming nodes on the peripheral surface of the base stock by the nodal grooves which are formed in the peripheral grooves on the periphery of roll. CONSTITUTION:In the final finishing pass, the base stock is reduced from the two orthoganally crossed directions by two pairs of four rolls R1-R4 provided with the peripheral grooves and nodal grooves. Then, when the deformed bars having different diameters are rolled by the same finishing rolls, roll gaps H11, H12 in two orthoganally crossed directions are respectively changeable into the roll gaps H21, H22 in accordance with the diameter of bar. In this way, since the height of node is controlled by two orthoganally crossed directions, the nodes having uniform height in the whole of the peripheral direction are formed, so that the deformed bar which satisfies the prescribed standard about the height of node is obtained by rolling with the same finishing rolls, even when the diameter is different.
