    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a reverse rotation phenomenon caused by combustion and explosion before a top dead center by the insufficiency of a starting force, that is, a so-called kickback phenomenon, in an engine control device.
      SOLUTION: The engine control device includes: a rotor 19 having an ignition timing detected portion 20 and rotated in proportion to a crankshaft 1; a detection means such as a pickup 25 detecting the ignition timing detected portion 20 and generating an ignition signal; and a control means such as an electronic control unit 26 operating an ignition device based the ignition signal generated by the pickup 25. The rotor 19 is provided with an instantaneous speed detected portion 21 or the like different from the ignition timing detected portion 20. The control means performs ignition control so that, by the pickup 25, the ignition device is ignited and operated when the instantaneous speed V1 of the rotor 19 detected by the instantaneous speed detected portion 21 provided in an advanced position within a range of 180 degrees from a piston top dead center is equal to or higher than a predetermined threshold V1m, and the ignition device is not ignited and operated when the instantaneous speed V1 is lower than the threshold V1m.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine designed to increase the output while suppressing the fuel consumption and further improve the thermal efficiency, and a driving method for the same.
      SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine K comprises a water injection nozzle 11, a water pump 9 pressurizing injection water to a specified pressure to supply it into the water injection nozzle 11, and a heat exchanger 10, disposed between the water injection nozzle 11 and the water pump 9, recovering heat from combustion exhaust emissions to heat the injection water up to a specified temperature. The engine is able to execute an energy saving cycle in addition to a normal combustion cycle, performing exhaust strokes of the normal combustion cycle followed by the energy saving cycle with specified frequency.
