摘要： PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the subject product, excellent in white paper gloss, printability, friction and water resistance, smoothness and mold releasability and having high gloss by using a specific water-soluble polymer compound as a composition for cast coating. CONSTITUTION:A cast coating layer consisting essentially of a water-soluble polymer compound composed of an alkali salt of graft copolymer prepared by carrying out graft copolymerization of (B) a monomer selected from acrylamide-based monomers, acrylonitrile-based monomers, acrylic acid ester- based monomers and acrylic acid-based monomers with (A) a styrene.acrylic acid copolymer is initially formed on a support. The resultant cast coated paper is then brought into pressure contact with a heated metallic drum having mirror surface gloss, dried and finished. Furthermore, the water-soluble polymer compound is preferably obtained by converting the component (A) into an alkali salt with ammonia and then carrying out graft copolymerization of the component (B).

摘要： PURPOSE:To improve the reproducibility of a printing pixel in every range from a low density to a high density by providing a thermal recording layer on cast-coated paper having a dynamic wet value adjusted to be in a specific range. CONSTITUTION:A cast-coated layer having a dynamic wet value of -0.15 to 0.00g is provided on a substrate, and on the cast-coated layer a thermal recording layer is provided. If the dynamic wet value is higher than 0.00g, a printing recording density is reduced. On the other hand, if it is less than -0.15g, the poor adhesion between the cast-coated layer and the thermal recording layer prevents the elimination of a repelling phenomenon and the rubbing-off of the thermal recording layer. It is particularly desirable that a light calcium carbonate having a BET specific surface area of 10g/m or higher is used in the range of 40-100wt.% of the total pigment in the cast-coated layer. In this manner, an adjustment to the above wet value can be facilitated, and an improvement effect is obviously shown in coating characteristics of the thermal recording layer or the like.

In said process, at least a sort of metallic salt composed of Zn, Al or Mg as auxiliary (D) is contained in the component B and dynamic wetting value of base paper after formation of the component B is set in a range from -0.20 to 0.10g to afford the objective coated paper. Besides, the metallic salt of Zn, Al or Mg in the component D is preferably sulfate, nitrate or salt of formic acid, respectively.
