    • PURPOSE:To obtain the subject coated paper having excellent white paper gloss and printability and free from uneven gloss and pinhole in high efficiency by applying a water-paint to a base paper to form a coating layer, moistening and plasticizing the layer with a specific rewetting liquid and pressing the layer against a mirror-polished hot drum. CONSTITUTION:A water-paint composed mainly of a pigment and an adhesive is applied to a base paper (at a rate of preferably 5-30g/m ) and dried to form a coating layer. The coating layer is moistened and plasticized with a rewetting liquid containing (A) preferably 0.1-20wt.% of a water-soluble polymeric compound consisting of an alkali salt of a graft copolymer composed of 20-90wt.% of a styrene-acrylic acid copolymer having a styrene/acrylic acid weight ratio of (50-85)/(50-15) and 10-80wt.% of one or more monomers selected from acrylamide-type monomer, acrylonitrile-type monomer, acrylic acid ester-type monomer and acrylic acid-type monomer and (B) a releasing agent such as calcium stearate. The plasticized coating layer is pressed against a mirror- polished hot drum to obtain the objective coated paper.

CONSTITUTION:A water-paint composed mainly of a pigment such as kaolin and an adhesive such as casein is applied to a base paper (at a rate of preferably 5-30g/m ) and dried to form a coating layer. The coating layer is moistened and plasticized with a rewetting liquid consisting of an aqueous liquid containing (A) preferably 0.1-20wt.% of a water-soluble polymer containing sulfonic acid (salt) group, i.e., a (co)polymer containing one or more monomers selected from aromatic hydrocarbon vinylsulfonic acid, (meth)acrylate containing sulfonic acid group, aliphatic hydrocarbon vinylsulfonic acid and their salts and (B) a releasing agent such as calcium stearate. The plasticized coating layer is pressed against a mirror-polished drum heated e.g. at >=90 deg.C to obtain the objective coated paper.

    • PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain the subject coated paper, excellent in gloss, luster and printability with hardly any rubbing fouls and useful for press coated paper, etc., by providing an undercoating layer consisting essentially of a pigment and an adhesive on base paper and treating the resultant paper under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:An undercoating layer consisting essentially of a pigment such as clay and an adhesive such as casein is provided on base paper and the smoothness of the undercoating layer is regulated to >=50sec value of Bekk smoothness according to JIS P8119 and a coating liquid consisting essentially of a polymer composition prepared by polymerizing a monomer such as methyl acrylate having ethylenically unsaturated bond is then applied thereon to form a casting coating layer so as to provide 0.3-5g/m dry weight. The resultant paper is then brought into pressure contact with a heated mirror-surface drum while the aforementioned coating layer is in a wet state and subsequently finished to afford the objective coated paper.
