      EXAMPLE: The compound of formula VI.
      USE: Synthetic intermediate of dyes, pigments of medicines, analysis of pharmaceutical activity of iridoid compounds, blue protein and other uses.
      PREPARATION: The saccharide part is removed from an iridoid by hydrolysis to obtain the very reactive aglycon and a compound containing a primary amino group is made to act on the aglycon to replace the oxygen atom readily with a nitrogen atom of a primary nitrogen group to produce a nitrogen-containing six- membered ring. For example, a compound of formula III is heated under an oxygen-free condition to give the compound of formula I.
