    • In some implementations, an electronic device includes an actuator having a coil and a magnet, at least one of which may be movable relative to the other. The coil may receive a drive current to cause movement of at least one of the magnet or the coil, such as to provide a haptic output, motivate a loudspeaker, or the like. A transceiver electrically coupled with the coil through a connection circuit may use the coil as an antenna for at least one of sending or receiving a radio frequency communication through the coil. Additionally, or alternatively, the coil may be placed into proximity to a source of a magnetic field to induce an electric current in the coil. The induced electric current may be passed from the coil to a power management system, such as to charge a battery or the like.

    • Layers of a touch sensor array used by electronic devices may be incorporated into other components, such that a touch sensor array is formed upon assembly of the other components. This touch sensor array may then be used as an input device by a user. For example, one layer of a touch sensor array may be integrated into the back of a display component, forming a first integrated package. Similarly, a second layer of the touch sensor array may be integrated into the front of a battery, forming a second integrated package. Upon assembly of the display atop the battery, the touch sensor array is formed. Such integration results in simpler and less expensive assembly, reduces the count of discrete parts during assembly, and minimizes the electronic device's physical profile.

    • The present invention is a printed circuit board having conductive layers split into electrically isolated voltage supply plane regions each plane region being connectable to an external supply voltage. The voltage supply plane regions are split to reduce the total number of PCB conductive layers. Voltage supply plane regions are configured to match the device voltage requirements and their placement on the PCB. In the case in which a circuit includes a device having two voltage supply requirements, a first set of the device's power supply pins are fixedly coupled to a first voltage supply plane region and a second set of the device's power supply pins are fixedly coupled to a second voltage supply plane region. In this instance, each of the first and second voltage supply plane regions are fixedly connectable to external voltage supplies or to a voltage regulator according to the voltage supply requirements of the device.

    • A wide dynamic range charger module is configured to couple a variable power source such as a photovoltaic cell to a load. The module determines a maximum power point (MPPT) of the power source and based at least in part upon that MPPT selects one of a plurality of power converters to provide power to the load. The selection is such that the selected power converter is operating within its operating regime. The selected power converter may further be configured to a pre-determined input admittance which corresponds to the power source.
