    • A shielded electrical connection system has a pair of electrical connectors each comprising an inner insulator housing and an outer housing of conductive material. A shunt member of conductive material contacts conductive plug and socket portions of the respective electrical connectors when mated, to enhance electrical continuity between the outer housings. The shunt member is disposed in a shunt chamber and a connector seal seals the chamber at one end. A terminal attached to a shielded electric cable is disposed in a terminal passage in electrical connector that has a second shunt chamber at an inlet of the terminal passage. A second shunt member engages the conductive shield of the cable in the second shunt chamber and the outer housing of the connector. A cable seal seals an inlet of the second shunt chamber. The outer housing of electrical connector is adapted for connection to a conductive casing for grounding the shielded electrical connection. This outer housing carries a second connector seal for sealing an interface between the outer housing and the conductive casing.

    • An electrical assembly comprises a mounting bracket lift assembly and an electrical center. The electrical center is attached to the mounting bracket lift assembly for plugging wiring harness end connectors into the electrical center. The electrical center comprises a lower housing, a circuit board sub-assembly, an upper housing, electrical components such as fuses and relays that plug into the upper housing and a cover. The circuit board sub-assembly includes a power bus bar that provides a power path for the various electrical circuits of the vehicle via the circuit components carried on the circuit board. Three power bus bars that are configured, oriented and located to reduce the foot print of the electrical center and/or to improve the dissipation of heat generated by the electrical center are disclosed.

    • An environmentally protected (sealed) BEC (10) at the upper and lower housing seams (16u, 16l) and at each of the connector receptacle (18a, 18b, 18c). A lower housing (14) of the BEC is formed conventionally, as for example by plastic injection molding and may carry a printed circuit board (PCB) (70), a spacer plate (72) and an electrical assemblage (74) including upstanding blade terminals (76). An upper housing (14) of the BEC is formed in two shots. Firstly, an upper housing body (14b) is formed by a plastic injection molding process using a first upper mold member (42) mated to a lower mold member (44). Next, the first upper mold member is removed, and a second upper mold member (52) is mated to the lower mold member. A liquid injection molding process now injects a resilient seal (silicone) over all mating surfaces of the upper housing body, including the upper housing seam (16u) and each connector receptacle.

    • An integrated BEDC and PCB provided through a low cost, highly reliable interconnect system. The upper and/or lower half of the main insulation assembly of a BEDC is provided with a recess for accommodating at least an edge portion of the substrate of a PCB. The PCB is provided with apertures such as holes for receiving therethrough a bus wire and/or terminal slots through which terminals having wire slots are fixedly staked. The apertures on the PCB are arranged in a predetermined pattern so as to align with corresponding respective apertures in the form of corresponding holes and/or terminal slots on the BEDC at the recess thereof. Accordingly, with the PCB seated in the recess, as the bus wires are laid, they will pass through the holes in the PCB and/or pass through the wire slots of the terminals and thereby provide interconnection therebetween when the two halves of the main insulation assembly are united and the PCB is sandwiched therebetween. Additionally, the electrical interconnect system includes a flexible strain relief bend formed on the bus wire to provide a flexible connection.
