The shrinkage band includes includes a pair of spaced apart parallel first sides, a pair of spaced apart parallel second sides perpendicular to the first sides, the second sides being longer than the first sides, and corner portions connecting the first and second sides such that the corner portions are provided at four corners of the shrinkage band, wherein the shrinkage band is configured to go around an outer circumference of a CRT face panel skirt to apply tension to the face panel, and wherein the first sides, the second sides, and the corner portions of the shrinkage band comprise two materials each having a different permeability.

    • A tension mask assembly for a flat cathode ray tube includes a tension mask having a plurality of strips separated from one another by a predetermined gap, real bridges connecting adjacent strips to thus define slots through which electron beams pass, and first and second dummy bridges extending from adjacent strips toward each slot therebetween, the tension mask being installed such that its top surface faces a panel forming a screen and it is separated from the panel by a predetermined gap, a plurality of supporting members disposed at opposite sides of the tension mask to support the tension mask, and a plurality of rigid members secured to opposite ends of the supporting members to apply tension to the tension mask. A first etching boundary formed at an end of the first dummy bridge near to the center of the tension mask is lower with respect to the screen than a second etching boundary formed at an end of the second dummy bridge near to the periphery of the tension mask. The shape of a section of a slot having dummy bridges are formed such that an electron beam is prevented from passing through the slot, thereby solving the problem of visibility. Therefore, cathode ray tubes having a high definition can be manufactured.

    • A tension mask for a color cathode-ray tube, a method for manufacturing the tension mask, and an exposure mask for use in the manufacture of the tension mask are provided. The tension mask is manufactured by depositing photosensitive layers over the top and bottom surfaces of a steel foil. An upper exposure mask with a pattern including a series of parallel upper light transmission portions arranged in lines is aligned over the top surface of the steel foil, and a lower exposure mask with a pattern is aligned over the bottom surface of the steel foil. Here, the pattern of the lower exposure mask includes a series of parallel lower light transmission portions arranged in lines, a plurality of first light shielding portions intersecting adjacent lower light transmission portions among the series of the parallel lower light transmission portions, and a plurality of second light shielding portions partially extending between the edges of the adjacent lower light transmission portions. Following this, the photosensitive layers uncovered with the lower and upper exposure masks are exposed using an exposure light source, and then the upper and lower exposure masks are removed from the steel foil and developing the photosensitive layers remaining on the steel foil. Lastly, the steel foil which has undergone the developing process is etched, so that the tension mask is completed.
