    • A color selection apparatus for a cathode ray tube. A mask is formed having a long axis and a short axis. A frame supports the mask in one of a long axis direction and a short axis direction. The mask has a plurality of strips separated by a predetermined distance. A plurality of first beam apertures are formed as single long slits between the strips in a center portion of the mask. A plurality of second beam apertures are formed on outer portions of the mask to both sides of the center portion of the mask. The second beam apertures are divided into a plurality of individual units within a single column by real bridges and at least one dummy bridge for each individual second beam aperture unit. The at least on dummy bridge extends inwardly from the strips but does not cross completely through the individual second beam aperture unit.

    • Disclosed is a CRT(Cathode Ray Tube), in which lengths of vertical axes(Y-axes) of outermost row slots of a long side of a shadow mask, slots adjacent to the outermost row slots in a central direction of the shadow mask and slots adjacent to the adjacent slots in a central direction of the shadow mask are maintained in the range of 70%˜110% of a length of a vertical axis (Y-axis) of a perfect slot, thereby providing a visually stable screen. The color CRT includes a panel having a luminescent screen on an inner surface thereof, a funnel connected to the panel, an electron gun mounted on a neck part of the funnel, the electron gun emitting electron beams toward the luminescent screen, a shadow mask disposed in a fixed interval to the luminescent screen formed on the inner surface of the panel, the shadow mask serving to select colors, and a frame fixing and supporting the shadow mask, wherein the shadow mask includes an effective surface having a plurality of slots and a non-effective surface surrounding the effective surface, wherein the slots includes first slots arranged on an outermost row arranged in a vertical axis direction of the effective surface of the shadow mask, second slots being adjacent to the first slots in the vertical axis direction, third slots being adjacent to the second slots in the vertical axis direction, and fourth slots being adjacent to the third slots in the vertical axis direction; and wherein a length of the vertical axis direction of the first slots is in the range of 70%˜110% of a length of the vertical axis direction of the fourth slots. The color CRT can prevent the formation of convexo-concave form on a luminescent body, white spots generated on an end of the effective surface, and stains generated on a periphery of the screen, thereby providing a stable screen.

    • A cathode ray tube includes an evacuated envelope having a substantially rectangular faceplate panel with two diagonal axes that extend between the opposing corners of the panel. The panel includes a mask-frame assembly having a frame with two opposing long sides and two opposing short sides forming a continuous mask support frame. The frame is mounted within the tube by brackets located near the corners of the frame. Each bracket is adjustably secured along the short sides of the frame and includes a flat surface section extending normal to the diagonal axes of the panel. A spring clip assembly is secured to the flat surface section of the bracket for engaging a stud affixed to the panel.

    • A mask assembly is formed to have a tension mask with a screen part for transmitting electron beams. The mask assembly is intended for use with a cathode ray tube. The screen part includes real slots, dummy slots, real bridges, dummy bridges, and strip parts. The screen part has a first portion and a second portion. The first portion has real bridges, dummy bridges, and dummy slots. The second portion has real bridges and real slots, but no dummy bridges and no dummy slots. The second portion of the screen part can be said to be associated with a center region that traditionally has degraded images due to undesired black lines. The second portion of the screen part is formed to have real bridges, real slots, no dummy bridges, and no dummy slots in order to provide improved clarity. The mask assembly has a tension mask which extends in either a longitudinal or transverse direction, and a mask frame for reinforcing the structural strength while maintaining an extended state of the tension mask.

    • A cathode ray tube includes a panel with an inner phosphor screen, and a funnel sealed to the panel while facing the phosphor screen. The funnel is externally mounted with a deflection yoke. A neck is sealed to the rear of the funnel while mounting an electron gun to emit electron beams therein. A shadow mask is placed within the panel. The shadow mask has a hole-formation portion with a plurality of beam-guide holes, a non-holed portion externally surrounding the hole-formation portion while being shaped with a rectangular frame, and a skirt bent from the outer periphery of the non-holed portion to the rear of the panel. The skirt has a basic etching portion half-etched at a predetermined roughness. The components of the shadow mask are integrated into one body. A welding portion is formed at the bottom of the skirt with a plurality of welding points. A mask frame is internally suspension-fitted to the panel while being welded to the skirt to support the shadow mask. The skirt of the shadow mask has a subsidiary etching portion placed between the welding portion and the basic etching portion while being half-etched at a roughness greater than the roughness of the basic etching portion.

    • Due to a slit formed in the dead space, a cathode ray tube capable of preventing incorrect hitting of color electron beams caused by the local doming phenomenon from occurring and thus preventing displacement of colors, unevenness in colors, and deterioration of luminance from occurring is provided. The cathode ray tube comprises a shadow mask having an effective area where lines of apertures for passing electron beams are arranged and a dead space formed on both outer sides of the effective area. In the dead space, a slit extending along the lines of the apertures is formed. Accordingly, the thermal expansion of the dead space caused by a temperature increase can be reduced, and the stress applied to the aperture line of the effective area adjacent to the dead space can be suppressed. As a result, the local doming phenomenon can be prevented from occurring.
