摘要： A method of preparing a carbamate or urea-functional compound is described comprising the step of reacting a lactone or hydroxy carboxylic acid with a compound (A) comprising a carbamate or urea group or a group that can be converted to a carbamate or urea group, and an active hydrogen group capable of reacting with the hydroxy carboxylic acid or in a ring-opening reaction with a lactone. The compound thus prepared is useful in curable compositions.

摘要： The instant invention provides carbamate functional polymers and/or oligomers and coating compositions containing such which have improved levels of nonvolatile solids yet demonstrate good sprayability and etch resistance. The carbamate functional polymers and/or oligomers of the invention comprise the polymerization reaction product of (a) a polymer or oligomer comprising a plurality of functional groups reactive with an active hydrogen group, and (b) a monomeric compound of the formula: wherein at least one of Y and Z is an active hydrogen containing group and the other is a primary carbamate group, and R is of the formula: —(L)n—R′ wherein L is a linking group of one or more carbons containing heteratoms selected from the group consisting of O, N, and mixtures thereof, R′ is an alkyl group free of heteratoms and selected from the group consisting of branched alkyl groups having from 5 to 30 carbons, straight chain alkyl groups of more than 2 carbons, and mixtures thereof, and n is a number from 0 to 1.

摘要： The invention provides a powder slurry composition comprising a first solid particulate component (a) dispersed in a crosslinking component (b) having at least one crosslinking resin which is liquid at 20° C. First component (a) is in solid particulate form having an average particle size of from 3 to 30 microns. Component (a) has a compound (i) having a Tg>40° C. and at least one carbamate or urea functional group, or a group convertible to a carbamate or urea group appended thereto. Crosslinking component (b) has at least one crosslinking resin (i) which is liquid at 20° C. Most preferably, crosslinking component (b) will further include a self-crosslinking aminoplast resin (ii) having at least two aminoplast groups and at least two groups which are nonreactive with solid particulate first component (a) but which are reactive with said aminoplast groups. The powder slurry composition of the invention has a VOC of less than 1.0 lbs./gal and provides performance and application improvements over the prior art.

摘要： The present invention provides a curable coating composition that includes at least three components. The coating composition includes a component (a) that includes one or both of a compound (a)(1) having at least one carbamate group or terminal urea group according to the invention and having at least two linking groups that are urethane or urea or a compound (a)(2) having at least two groups selected from carbamate groups, terminal urea groups, or combinations of the two and at least four urethane or urea linking groups. The second component (b) of the coating composition includes a polymer resin comprising active hydrogen-containing functional groups reactive with the third component (c). The resins is selected from polyester, polyurethane, or polyester-polyurethane copolymers Component (c) of the coating composition is a curing agent that is reactive with the first two components. Preparation of coated articles using the compositions of the invention is also disclosed.
