    • A touchless dispenser is provided for a pressurized container including a valve member. The dispenser comprises a housing mountable to the container. An electrically controlled valve in the housing includes an inlet and an outlet. The inlet maintains the valve member in an open position incident to the housing being mounted on the container. A nozzle extends between the valve outlet and a discharge orifice. A sensor senses a user's hand proximate the discharge orifice. A control in the housing is operatively coupled to the sensor and the electrically controlled valve. The control controls operation of the electrically controlled valve to dispense a select dosage of product from the container responsive to the sensor sensing presence of a user's hand proximate the discharge orifice.

    • An improvement is provided in an actuator for actuating a valve on a container for dispensing a fluent product from the container in a fan spray pattern. The actuator includes a dispensing flow path to direct fluent product from the valve to an exterior of the actuator via an exit orifice located at an end of the flow path, and a post defining a portion of the flow path, the post extending along and centered on a longitudinal axis and having an end face adjacent said exit orifice. The improvement includes a flow channel extending laterally across the end face of the post, the flow channel being symmetric about a lateral axis extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the post, a portion of the flow channel directly communicating with said exit orifice to direct the fluent product from the flow channel into the exit orifice.

    • A dispensing actuator for use on a container having pressurized contents is configured for convenient one-handed manipulation and use by consumers. The dispensing actuator includes a hingedly moveable flip-open lid, and a laterally moveable opening element, which can be manipulated so that the opening element cooperates with the lid to move the lid from a closed position to an opened position. The present dispensing actuator further includes an inner, downwardly deflectable actuating element, operatively connected with a dispensing valve of the associated container. Resilient, downward deflection of the actuating element, after opening of the dispensing actuator lid, permits the contents of the container to be conveniently dispensed. In one embodiment, the contents of the container are dispensed generally laterally of the dispensing actuator, while in alternate embodiments, the container's contents are dispensed generally upwardly, through the actuating element of the dispensing actuator.

    • An inverted aerosol dispensing device is disclosed comprising an aerosol container extending between a top portion and a bottom portion for containing an aerosol product and an aerosol propellant therein. An aerosol valve is located at the bottom portion of the aerosol container. The aerosol valve has a valve stem for displacing the aerosol valve from a biased closed position to an open position to discharge the aerosol product from the valve stem. An undercap is secured to the bottom portion of the aerosol container for supporting the aerosol container on a supporting surface. An actuator is movably mounted relative to the undercap for moving the valve stem upon displacement of the actuator for discharging the aerosol product from the valve stem in a generally downwardly direction through the undercap. The invention is particularly useful in the dispensing of viscous aerosol products.

    • A system is provided for securing together a container having an opening and a finger-operable pump. One form of the system includes a mounting flange on the pump and a support structure in the container for receiving the flange in a snap-fit or press-fit engagement. In another form, the pump mounting flange is heat bonded to the container with a liner that includes at least two layers of a heat-weldable plastic around at least one interposed layer of substantially electrically conductive metal which can be heated with induction heating. The container can be threaded, and a threaded collar can be screwed onto the container. The collar can have an abutment surface for facing the pump actuator, and the collar can be screwed up or down on the container to establish a selected distance between the collar abutment surface and the pump actuator so as to define the stroke length of the pump.
