    • Silver halide light sensitive photographic elements are disclosed comprising a support bearing at least one yellow image forming hydrophilic colloid layer comprising a yellow dye-forming coupler and a trialkyl citrate coupler solvent of the formula C3H4(OH)(CO2R)3, where each R independently represents an alkyl group and the total number of carbon atoms for the three R groups combined is greater than 6. The combination of such citrate ester solvents with yellow dye forming couplers in photographic elements leads to both good reactivity and good image-dye light stability. The advantages of the invention are particularly useful for photographic color paper elements on reflective supports.

    • A photographic element is disclosed comprising a silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith an acetanilide based yellow dye forming coupler and a compound of the following Formula I: wherein R1, R2 and R3 are each independently aromatic, cyclic, linear, or branched chained hydrocarbon groups. The invention provides photographic elements which exhibit exceptional yellow dye light stability, and which retain desirable properties derived from the use of acetanilide based yellow dye-forming couplers, particularly when used in combination with substituted phenolic and/or thiomorpholine dioxide stabilizers. In addition to stabilizing properties, compounds of Formula I have organic solvent properties, and accordingly may be advantageously used partly or totally in place of conventional high boiling permanent and/or auxiliary organic coupler solvents to disperse the acetanilide-based couplers.

    • In accordance with one embodiment of the invention, a photographic element is disclosed comprising a silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith an acetanilide-based yellow dye forming coupler and a stabilizer compound of the formula S-I: wherein R0 represents an aryl or heterocyclic group; Ra is H or a substituent group; L represents an alkylene linking group and p represents 0 or 1; and Rb is a substituent group, provided that substituent groups represented by Ra and Rb may be joined to form a ring. The presence of substituted amine compounds of formula S-I improves the efficiency of dye formation reaction for acetanilide-based couplers. When used in combination with known bis-phenolic stabilizers, substantial improvements in the light stability of the image dyes can be also be obtained. Accordingly, photographic elements of the present invention upon exposure and photographic processing exhibit good activity and yield yellow dye images that have low fading when exposed to light.

    • The invention provides a photographic element comprising at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having associated therewith: (A) a phenolic cyan dye-forming narrow bandwidth “NB coupler”; (B) a phenolic cyan dye-forming coupler of formula (II): wherein: R3 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or aryl group or a 5-10 membered heterocyclic ring which contains one or more heteroatoms selected from nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur, which ring is unsubstituted or substituted; R4 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl group; R5 is hydrogen, halogen or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl or aryl group or a 5-10 membered heterocyclic ring which contains one or more heteroatoms selected from nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur, which ring is unsubstituted or substituted; and Z is a hydrogen atom or a group which can be split off by the reaction of the coupler with an oxidized color-developing agent; and (C) a stabilizer of formula (III) wherein: each Y is an independently selected substituent and m is 0 to 4; and each T is an independently selected substituent and p is 0 to 4.     • It has been discovered that when polyalkylene oxide compounds or block polymeric or block oligomeric surface active compounds comprising at least a polyoxypropylene (POP) block and a polyoxyethylene (POE) block are added to conventional dispersions of yellow couplers (that is dispersions in which the dispersed particles have a particle size of 0.1 to 0.6 .mu.m), such dispersions in a coated silver halide photographic element produce substantially higher dye yield compared to the conventional dispersion without any additive. Further, the yellow dye formed from such dispersions containing the addenda of this invention are substantially more light stable compared to dispersions that does not contain such addenda.The invention is carried out just by adding required amounts of the said polyoxyethylene (POE)--polyoxypropylene (POP) compound to a preformed milled coupler dispersion prior to coating the photographic element.
